'It's an homage': Kim Kardashian defends kids fashion line as it is accused of stealing designer's ideas...and reveals proceeds go to charity

She is highly regarded as a fashion icon.

But Kim Kardashian had her credentials questioned as she was accused of stealing design ideas for her kids' clothing line TheKidsSupply.

The reality star, 36, found herself in hot water as the Instagram account Diet Prada called her out for allegedly copying the likes of Rei Kawakubo and Demna Gvasalia on Tuesday.

However, reps for KIm have defended the line and claimed it was intended to be an homage to famous designers.

'@kimkardashian ! Just when we thought you may have rocked the glitter better than Bey, you had to go and rip an extremely limited edition @commedesgarcons x Kosho & Co souvenir jacket for your @thekidssupplyline,' the Instagram post stated.

'AND that one-of-a-kind custom sequin @vetements_official dress made specially for North, Great message for the little ones!' it continued.

The account started the slideshow post with the title card 'Kim des Garcons'.

The children's black jacket with an eagle and 'live free with strong will' was alongside the original Comme des Garçons jacket designed by Kawakubo.

However, a representative for TheKidsSupply told Page Six that the kids' designs were to be taken as an 'homage' to the originals.

'The idea behind Kids Supply is to give people the opportunity to purchase things that would never be available for children otherwise,' the rep said.

'We decided to release the Demna dress after making one on our own for North because it got such a great reaction and an overflow of people wanting it for their own children.

'We named it the Demna dress to pay homage to him as it was one of Kim and North’s favorite mommy and me moments.'

'The Rei jacket was a mixture of some our favorite souvenir jacket art. We have been collecting for years and have archive of them. We named it the Rei Jacket out of the utmost respect for her,' the rep added.

And apparently, '100% of the proceeds from both pieces will be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.'
