'I've had several nervous breakdowns': Roseanne Barr, 65, talks about the price of fame in her 20/20 special

Her show Roseanne was a ratings juggernaut during the 80s and 90s.

But that fame came at a cost, as Roseanne Barr revealed in a clip for an upcoming episode of 20/20.

'I had several nervous breakdowns, but fortunately, no one noticed,' said the 65-year-old comedienne during an interview.

The actress, whose rebooted TV series is set to return to ABC on March 27, was frank about her struggles in the clip.

'I did have a few nervous breakdowns and was hospitalized several times. It was very difficult.' 

'Fame was difficult, too, but this time I’m like, "OK, I’m 65. Thank God I’ve got Social Security now so I don’t have to worry."'

Roseanne's 20/20 special airs on ABC on February 15.

The one-time US presidential candidate threatened to retire after a Twitter feud last month.

The star of reality TV show Roseanne's Nuts called it quits after a series of tweets involving varying political views.

'i won't be censored or silence chided or corrected and continue to work. I retire right now. I've had enough. bye!,' read one of her tweets that have since been deleted according to USA Today

She followed up with this tweet: 'do not expect to hear anything more from me. Its a waste of time to oppose fascists here. bye!'

And lastly: 'the only way to WIN is not to play the game and I will not play.'

These announcements came after the mother-of-five faced liberal criticism to her public support of Donald Trump.
