Tom Cruise joined Instagram in January.

And the 55-year-old movie legend seems to be enjoying the power the social media platform has to promote his new film Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Instead of sharing selfies, food shots or empowering quotes, the Oscar nominee is all about his flick.

And on Thursday Cruise was at it again as he happily shared the first poster for the latest installment of the action franchise. 'Check out the first poster!' he wrote in the caption.

In the poster, he is seen in silhouette in a suit holding a gun.

Over him is a helicopter that his character Ethan Hunt is dangling from. Below are mountain ranges.

And the cover copy says the film is 'coming soon.'

The Top Gun star kicked off his own social media page with two snaps a week ago, including one of a clapperboard revealing that Mission: Impossible - Fallout is the title of the sixth film in the action franchise.

The second snap showed the star, who famously does his own stunts, desperately hanging on to the side of a helicopter as it banks over a body of water.

Last summer Tom, who has been filming in London, fractured an ankle during a stunt, holding up production for a couple of months.

But that didn't stop him. 'We've upped the ante for the sixth #MissionImpossible. I can’t wait for you guys to see more,' Tom captioned the action shot.

The star notched up an impressive 574K followers in just two hours.

However, some may have trouble finding his Instagram page among the many other fan pages devoted to him already on the social media site.

Paramount also revealed the official synopsis for the movie.

It read: 'The best intentions often come back to haunt you.

'Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.'

Mission: Impossible - Fallout hits theaters on July 27.
