BIG FACEOFF OVER RS 18,000 CR SCAM CLAIM BETWEEN MAHARASHTRA CM AND SANJAY NIRUPAM

SANJAY NIRUPAM PRODUCES DOCUMENTS TO REBUTT CM POINT BY POINT

"CM IS CALLING A PEOPLE'S MOVEMENT A PUBLICITY STUNT," SAYS SANJAY NIRUPAM
Mumbai,23 August: It is turning out to be a big face-off between Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam over the construction of the Metro Car Depot at the Aarey Milk Colony. On Tuesday, Sanjay Nirupam along with Aarey citizen activists alleged a Rs 18,000 crore scam by building the metro shed at Aarey to which the Chief Minister responded saying no commercial activity would take place at Aarey. Twenty-four hours later, Sanjay Nirupam along with the activists held another press conference making a point by point rebuttal of the Chief Minister's claims.
"Chief Minister is lying when he says that Aarey land does not come under the Forest Department. I have a court order, a collector's note as well as MMRCL's own map that shows that the land being used for the metro shed is actually Forest Land. Secondly, when the CM claims that there will be no commercial use of the land should we believe him or the Metro Rail's own design plans that clearly show the area of 30,000 sq meters ear marked for commercial and real estate use," said Sanjay Nirupam.
The Congress leader added that by calling it a publicity stunt the Chief Minister is calling the fight of hard working, honest citizen activists a stunt.
Aarey activist Stalin D added, "By making charges the Chief Minister is trying to hide the truth. There is documented evidence to show that Aarey land is Forest Land and no work metro construction should happen there. The Chief Minister should look at the other options."
