He looked fit and well when he was in Barbados in December filming a new spy thriller.

The 61-year-old was helped into a wheelchair by an airport employee who pushed him from the gate to baggage claim.

It was immediately followed by a similar tweet to Turkish Airlines.

However, the actor didn't reveal how he hurt his hip or how long it will take him to recover.

'Eric looked like a shell of his former self,' said an eyewitness who was on the star's flight. 'He didn't look good at all. It was really concerning.

'He looked incredibly thin and weak and carried a cane. He slept most of the flight and seemed too weak to walk.

'Once at baggage claim the assistant got his luggage and wheeled him out to his transportation.'

The 5ft 10in, Oscar nominated actor was in Barbados to film Lord Of The Dance star Michael Flatley's self-funded thriller.

He will next be seen in action drama Days Of Power about a pop star and his band who go missing, due out on February 20.
