Liam Payne and Rita Ora play it safe as they put on a tame performance of their Fifty Shades Freed song... as Jack Whitehall jokes about their 'sexual chemistry'

  • The pair performed their sultry track For You, which is taken from the soundtrack of the raunchy film series
  • Liam, 24, arrived at the show with his girlfriend Cheryl, 34, amid persistent rumours of an impending split
  • Hosted by Jack Whitehall at London's O2 Arena, fans saw performances from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Dua Lipa, Jorja Smith, Rag'nBone Man and Stormzy
  • Dua, 22, scooped two awards on the night, for Best British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act
  • Sam Smith, who performed, was left out completely, in one of the biggest award snubs in history
  • The winner of the British Artist Video award, which was Harry Styles, was decided by the public, with one of the 10 acts eliminated each week until there were only five left on the night of the awards

As he arrived at the BRIT Awards with his girlfriend Cheryl amid rumours of an impending split, all eyes were on Liam Payne as he took the stage with Rita Ora to perform their sexy Fifty Shades Freed song, For You.

But the singers kept their duet considerably tame, opting to forgo any suggestive gyrating or raunchy moves as they kept a fair distance between themselves during their performance at London's O2 Arena on Wednesday.

However, as their duet came to an end - and Liam responded to Rita's high-five with a hug and a peck on the cheek - host Jack Whitehall joked: 'ITV hasn't seen that much sexual chemistry since the Trump-Morgan interview.'

Rita put on an eye-catching display, performing alongside Liam in a white bodysuit, which she revealed after peeling off the white tracksuit she wore at the start of her set, which included her tracks Your Song and Anywhere.

Liam - who donned an Emporio Armani suit for the occasion - took the stage with Rita after joker Jack approached the table occupied by the former One Direction heartthrob and Cheryl, who has earlier walked the red carpet together amid rumours of a split.

Addressing the couple, he enquired: 'How is date night going?'

'Going great so far,' responded Liam as he gestured towards his partner. 'We're having a good time.'

Jack then asked that they wave to their 11-month-old son Bear, who had been left with a babysitter ahead of their night out on the town.

But as they waved at the cameras, Jack yelled: 'Hello Niall,' referencing Liam's 1D bandmate Niall Horan - and drawing laughter from the parents.

Jack then mentioned that Liam would be performing his song from the Fifty Shades soundtrack, before saying: Sounds pretty saucy. Is there a safe word?'

Do it like Dua in a printed bodysuit by Versace

Dua Lipa was the star of the show at last night's BRIT Awards.

Not only did she take home two gongs, but her performance completely knocked our socks and she got it spot on with each of her costume changes too.

For her red carpet arrival, the singer went for a frothy pink tulle creation by Giambattista Valli, before rocking this printed ensemble on the stage. The bodysuit and jacket are both by Versace and we love the underwater-inspired print.

The all-in-one is from the SS18 collection and can be worn as a bodysuit or swimsuit. Talk about getting two for the price of one! Unfortunately said price is £880, but click (right) if you fancy splashing out.

Millie Bobbie Brown and Kylie Minogue were the first presenters of the night, stepping out together as they presented the Best British Female Solo Artist gong to Dua Lipa.

As she picked up her first ever BRIT Award, the visibly moved singer said: 'I wanna thank you all so much first of all for starting my night so magically... I'm so humbled. I wanna thank my fans for being there for me...

'I wanna thank every single female that has been on this stage before me that has given girls like me - not just in the music industry, but in society that has had dreams... Here's to more women taking over!'

Referencing the pyrotechnics that lit up the stage towards the end of their performance, host Jack couldn't resist taking a jab at Ollie Murs' recent social media warning of a phantom shooting in London.

The comedian said: 'That was a controlled blazer. Apparently, Ollie Murs has been tweeting from a toilet telling everyone to evacuate. Please ignore him.'
