'Everybody has their own version of it': Saoirse Ronan on why she finds it 'funny' that people STILL can't pronounce her name

Her typically Irish name has garnered almost as much attention as her meteoric career rise.

And Saoirse Ronan - pronounced Ser-sha - joked about her tricky moniker as she sat down for an interview on ITV's This Morning on Friday.

The Oscar-nominated actress, 23, said she finds the buzz surrounding her name 'really, really funny', and has come to enjoy seeing how everyone has their own way of saying it.

Work a white one shoulder blouse like Saoirse in Alexandre Vauthier

Saoirse Ronan was on This Morning this week chatting to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford and she was looking seriously chic for the interview.

The Oscar-nominated 'Ladybird' actress was wearing a look from Alexandre Vauthier's fall 2017 ready-to-wear collection consisting of black pleated trousers and a dramatic asymmetric top with a puff shoulder and wrap belt finish. We're digging this coolly quirky blouse that would add some oomph to a simple pair of jeans or trousers in an instant - perfect for a party or a fancy dinner date.

Keen to bag it? It's still available at The Webster but hurry or it'll sell out (click right).

The Lady Bird's moniker has been the topic of much discussion ever since she landed an Oscar nomination for Brooklyn back in 2015 and Dennis Quaid pronounced it incorrectly.

More recently, Jessica Chastain caused a social media stir when she butchered Saoirse's name and called her 'Sher-sha' at the Golden Globes in January.

Saoirse told This Morning hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes: 'It is funny. At the start when I was a kid it annoyed me. I was sort of very defensive about my name.

'As I've gotten older, I find it really, really funny. It's a name you can't forget. Everybody has got their own version of it.'

The talented star has had her fair share of movie premieres since bursting onto the scene in 2008's Atonement, which earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nod.

But Saoirse says her red carpet moments with her Lady Bird cast members made her experience in front of the cameras more 'comfortable'.

She admitted: 'You get used to the red carpets. It's weird. It's not a normal situation to get into. When you're wearing a certain outfit it helps you feel more or less confident

'But with his film we all go to the same award shows and do the same interviews and you get comfortable'.

The screen queen has been nominated for the Best Actress prize at this Oscars for her performance in Lady Bird, and although she is taking her mum, Monica, to the ceremony, Saoirse contemplated taking the beloved family pooch.

'I mean Fran was in the running for a while to come to the Oscars but we all had a discussion about it and Fran was like "You know what I'm going to take a step back, because this is my first year in the house and I think mam - my mum - you should go". It's quite big of her.'

This nomination marks her third nod after previously being in the running for Best Supporting Actress for Atonement in 2008 and Best Actress for Brooklyn in 2016 - and is looking forward to being able to properly party after the ceremony for the first time and she and her mam can't wait to let their hair down.

She recently said: 'This time my mam is coming with me and she's very excited. She's like, "We are gonna dance! We are gonna have fun!"

The film, which has been tipped for Oscars success, is set in 2002 and tells the story of an artistically inclined 17-year-old girl, who comes of age in Sacramento, California.
