V4 group increases defence co-operation

26 February 2018

The Visegrád Four (V4) group – Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Poland – signed a defence co-operation agreement on 22 February in Budapest, the Polish news agency PAP has reported.

Heads of the V4 parliamentary defence committees agreed to jointly produce and purchase military equipment using EU funds to develop new, advanced military solutions.

Michał Jach, head of the Polish lower house's defence committee, said the four countries should finance work on new, innovative weapon systems from the EU's Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) and European Defence Fund.
