He's been called a gentleman but Blake Garvey has learned all of his good manners from his mother  who raised him with the help of his grandmother.

The brand new Australian Bachelor has revealed that his father was never in his life.

Speaking to Who Magazine, he said his dad had another family in the US and went back there because it didn't work out with his mum.

'He was never involved in my life. I never get a birthday call, or a "How are your grades going?"

'He has been an absent father,' the 31-year-old real estate agent explained.

Blake's mother Andrea had him when she was just 16-years-old and she along with his grandmother raised him to the handsome man he is today.

Blake says he can't wait to have children of his own - two to be exact - to be the father to them that he didn't have for himself.

'I certainly would have liked it [a father]. More importantly, it is what I want to have with my kids,' he said.

And although he admitted to being in an online relationship with LA based model, Amy Campbell Burson, who he broke up with to go on the show, he said his last 'proper relationship' ended over a year ago in March.

She exclusively told the The Daily Mail Australia last month that she was left heartbroken when Blake decided to go on the reality dating show.

The property guru was said to be annoyed that their relationship had been unveiled as it may put him in a bad light especially in front of the bachelorettes.

Although Amy believed their relationship was forever after, Blake has now played it down, likening it to an online fling.

The Bachelor will debut on Channel Ten on July 30 at 7.30pm.
