DREAM TO SCREEN FINALISTS NAMED
Five finalists have been named in a competition searching for the UK's best new film-making talent.
They were chosen from more than 500 entries in the Dream to Screen contest, run by Cineworld Foundation and Media Trust with support from the Jack Petchey Foundation.
The competition invited 16 to 25-year-olds to submit a 90-second short film pitch on the theme of inspiration. Finalists were selected by a panel of industry experts including Dame Helen Mirren.
The five finalists are Callum Costello, 25, from Newcastle; William Horsefield, 19, from Milton Keynes; Onysha Collins, 23, from Ealing in west London; George O'Regan, 16, from Merton in south-west London, and Sarah Grant, 24, from Glasgow.
Each finalist will now create their short film with the help of Bafta mentors before a public vote to select the overall winner.
Sarah, who will be mentored by producer Michael Hines, said: "Dream to Screen offers a once in a lifetime opportunity where you have access to a mentor - a priceless experience.
"I'm not going to get this break again, so I plan to take in every word they say."
The winning film will be shown at a red carpet awards evening in London and in pre-reels at Cineworld cinemas nationwide.
Bafta chief executive Amanda Berry, who was one of the judges, said: "It was an absolute joy to watch the pitches.
"There were many different approaches but all the applications shared a passion for their craft and I was impressed by the creative interpretations of the theme of 'inspiration'."
Voting will be open from September 1 at www.dreamtoscreen.org.
