'My heart feels broken right now': Olivia Wilde announces her beloved dog Paco - who worked as a model for Old Navy - has died

Olivia Wilde's birthday was spoiled Saturday by the death of her beloved dog, Paco.

The New York City native turned 34 on Saturday as she promoted her new movie A Vigilante at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas with her partner Jason Sudekis at her side.

The House actress later took to Instagram to announce the sad news that she 'lost [her] best friend,' alongside four images showing her with her late dog Paco, who she described as 'a kind, wise, gentle, loving soul.'

She wrote, 'I could post a thousand photos of so many adventures. My heart feels broken right now ... here’s to all the incredible friends of Paco who’ve been so kind to him over the years. I am forever grateful.'

The Vinyl star implored her followers to 'consider adopting a pup, and [love] them with all you’ve got.'

Paco was a model for the clothier Old Navy in 2006, and Wilde in 2009 told Women's Health that the pooch still had some habits from his time in front of the camera.

'He still acts like a doggie model sometimes. If I put a T-shirt on him, he won’t move. He thinks he’s back at the job; he’ll strike a pose and just sit there,' she said.

With minimal makeup, she wore her blonde bob down and parted to the right as she posed alongside Sudekis, who wore a brown paperboy cap with a black sweater with a white graphic across the front.

A Vigilante is a crime drama that casts her as Sadie, a vigilante who comes to the rescue of domestic violence victims.

She told Deadline of the meaty role: 'I’ve always wanted to be Batman, but now I got to play a vigilante superhero grounded in reality, a hero that these survivors of domestic violence really deserve.'
