Ant McPartlin expected to miss Royal Television Society Awards

Declan Donnelly looked downcast today as he was seen out for the first time since his best friend Ant McPartlin was arrested for drink-driving. Donnelly is said to be 'devastated' at the problems that have forced his presenting sidekick to give up appearing on TV indefinitely and go back to rehab. The 42-year-old kept his gaze on the ground as he walked with his wife Ali in west London today. Dec, who has not spoken publicly on the arrest, is said to be 'gutted' for his friend of 29 years and worried for the future of the TV partnership. The pair have previously insisted that they would only work together, writing in a joint autobiography: 'Neither one of us would ever be on our own out there'.

Girl dies after being found in a submerged car in Wales

A two-year-old girl has died in freezing waters after being trapped in a car when it silently rolled down a slipway after her mother parked it to go into her office. Kiara Moore (left and main image) was found in her mother, Kim Rowland's (main image and top left) silver Mini, which had been taken and plunged into the River Teifi in Cardigan, Wales. Ms Rowlands, reported her car had been stolen, near the old Scout Hall, with her daughter inside - sparking a major search (top right) in the area yesterday afternoon. After a two-hour search of the river around Cardigan Castle, Dyfed-Powys Police found the car submerged in the river. Kiara, who was due to turn three next week, was found inside the car and was flown to hospital, where she later died. Her father, Jet Moore (top left), has now confirmed the car rolled into the river outside his outdoor activity centre - before police dived in to try to save the youngster. The 40-year-old wrote on Facebook: 'They got in the car to go home. Sat on bank card which snapped and needed money to get home etc. Went back to the office to get money from the desk and came back to no car. Looked in the river No signs. So we thought she and the car had been taken. The police found the car a while later and went way beyond the call of duty jumping in and pulling her out. They tried to revive her for hours but unfortunately could not. Everyone done their best. Thank you all so much for the support it means the world!'

Restaurant owner Faheem Vanoo and his wife Shilpa Dandekar were travelling with their four-year-old daughter Amaira (together inset) when their green Mini (circled) was involved in the head-on collision (main picture). The Sunday afternoon crash left them 'shocked and dazed' - but without any serious injuries. But furious Shilpa told said that she had to be held back after the crash because she wanted to smash McPartlin in the face. Her husband, Faheem, explained: 'His Mini came flying around a sharp corner on the wrong side of the road trying to overtake a blue car. I hardly had time to react and turned in towards the kerb to avoid a head-on collision. I'm convinced that split-second turn of the wheel saved us all from being crippled or killed. I reckon he was doing 50 or 60mph.' A close member of McPartlin's family said the Saturday Night Takeaway star is 'distraught' that children were involved in the crash near Richmond Park in west London. But Faheem said last night he does not care 'whether [McPartlin is] a millionaire' or 'a famous TV star - he could have put my daughter in a wheelchair'.

Life of 25-stone ‘Fat Boy of Peckham’ from Edwardian Britain

Standing at 4ft tall and weighing some 14 stone at the age of just six years old, Johnny Trunley (main image) was viewed by his contemporaries in Edwardian Britain with equal measures of fear and curiosity. Acquiring the nickname the Fat Boy of Peckham, he performed around the country in 1904 at the age of just seven, going on to tour with American showman Buffalo Bill and music hall impresario Fred Karno and meeting Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel. To modern audiences, circus shows of this nature are an antiquated embarrassment and a throwback to an age before political correctness. But in Trunley's era it was not unusual for crowds to gawk at those who were considered different from the norm, whether they were obese children, giants, dwarfs, Siamese twins and hairy men. The gym's own CCTV (right) showed Aylesbury stripping off to his weightlifting vest before confronting Mr Ferris - then attacking him in the gym.
