Tyler Lambert has been designing clothes since the 8th grade. And now the 21-year-old has an A-list celebrity following that includes the likes of Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid.
His eponymous brand Lambert made it's debut in the spring of 2012. Ahead of it's time, the line featured reworked vintage items before the distressed look became so trendy.
FEMAIL chatted with the trailblazer about his success, how to look polished wearing ripped denim, and more.

Inspired by his own personal style that is heavily influenced by the midwest, the self-taught designer says his line has a youthful streetwear look.
Tyler believes the success of the brand stems from the desire to set oneself apart from everybody else. 'Lambert brings personality and individuality to one's style.'
'I spend a lot of time sourcing unique but similar (vintage) pieces. When a vintage product is one-of-one, it truly is. No item is the same.'
With Hailey Baldwin as his muse, seeing her in his jeans was a real accomplishment. 'She kills fashion. She is a total bad a** in terms of simple edgy street style.
'Seeing the photos of her totally rocking my new arrival "The Cigarette Skinnie" in the Indigo wash - truly verifies as a young independent designer why it is so worth it to express your visions, and all the heartache and stress is rewarding.'

'Growing up as a millennial, I saw the early 2000's as less is more,' said the 21-year old.
When the next decade approached, Tyler believes 'less is more' returned only re-imagined in a more worn-in way.
'It's raw, outlandish, daring, bold, however you want to describe cutting up clothes. Definition is what sets apart personal style. Wearing a distressed garment radiates that definition as someone with specific style.'
According to Tyler, rips and tears are popular because everyone is trying to brand themselves and put their own stamp on style.
'It's not limiting, everyone feels creative doing so - there is beauty to be seen in that.'

Rocking the ombre flannel: 'Definition is what sets apart personal style. Wearing a distressed garment radiates that definition as someone with specific style'
To pull off the distressed look and still appear polished, follow Tyler's equation of 'high=low.'
'Clean face, accessories, shoes (high), vintage denim jeans and jacket (low). Simple pattern, or single color blouse with a black stiletto (high), ripped up motorcycle pants (low).
'It's a relaxed and effortless approach to look polished, simplify it even more to look thoughtful. A distressed item is seen as a bold, eye-catching choice.'
