We Like to Play at UC Davis

If you are an athlete, a sports fan or both, UC Davis is a great university to attend. We’ve got intercollegiate varsity teams, intramural sports and on-campus sport clubs that deliver competition and fun.

Intercollegiate athletics

The UC Davis intercollegiate athletics experience is open to everyone — spectators as well as participants. By coming to UC Davis, you can cheer on 23 varsity teams that compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

In 2016-17, Aggie teams won conference championships in men's basketball, women's basketball and men's water polo. Nine teams were represented in the NCAA postseason, with men's basketball making its first "Big Dance" appearance in school history. Additionally, the women's basketball team advanced three rounds into the Women's National Invitation Tournament. UC Davis also claimed individual conference titles in gymnastics, swimming and diving, and track and field.

Aggie student-athletes also continued to earn high marks in the classroom. Four teams earned NCAA Public Recognition Awards for Academic Progress Rate, eight teams led their respective conferences in APR, while 11 tallied perfect 1,000 APR scores during the 2015-16 academic year (the last year available for scores).

Be an Aggie fan

Fans are key to UC Davis athletic teams’ success because cheering crowds inspire teams to win. And the more noise, the more Aggie Pride!

Aggie Pack is the easiest and best way for students to support UC Davis athletics. And, by joining this group, students participate in the largest university spirit organization in the nation.

You’ll also enjoy sports facilities of every shape and size at UC Davis, such as Aggie Stadiumthe Pavilion, Dobbins Baseball Stadium and the Schaal Aquatics Center.

Intramural and sport clubs

Beyond our NCAA sports, we have about 2,000 UC Davis students in nearly 40 sport clubs organized through Campus Recreation and Unions at UC Davis. Sport clubs compete with other universities and colleges across the country.

Campus Rec will host 39 sport clubs in the 2017-18 academic year, including the recent additions of co-ed archery, co-ed cross-country and track, and women's basketball.

You can also have fun with fellow Aggies participating in intramural sports. UC Davis fields nearly 30 types of intramural sports with 1,900 teams, serving nearly 7,700 students, faculty, staff and alumni.

New to Davis? All students living in university housing are invited to compete in the Intramural Sports Res Hall Cup. Leagues range from flag football to dodgeball, and much more.
