EastEnders SPOILER: Joyce Murray 'to be KILLED off' as actress Maggie Steed exits the soap... leaving husband Ted heartbroken
She has been in the thick of Albert Square drama for barely a year.
But EastEnders will reportedly be saying goodbye to Joyce Murray, played by actress Maggie Steed, next week as she is set to be killed off, leaving husband Ted heartbroken.
A source told The Sun Joyce will die in her sleep next week, with Ted's grief setting the stage for the entry of the Murrays daughter Judith (played by Emma Fielding).
Leaving: EastEnders Joyce Murray is reportedly set to be killed off from the soap next week, as actress Maggie Steed departs the BBC One soap
The source said: 'Joyce's time on the Square has been a brief one and, after her death, Ted will come out of his shell a bit and viewers will see more of him.
'His and Joyce's daughter Judith will come into play and will be involved in new storylines with the Taylor family.'
Representatives for EastEnders declined to comment to MailOnline.
Joyce joined the soap last year as she and husband Ted (Christopher Timothy) were rehoused on Albert Square, and were immediately at odds with the explosive Taylor family, blaming them for causing their friend Joan's nervous breakdown.

The couple were then at the centre of the gas tank explosion storyline, with the ensuing shock leading Ted to accidentally shoot Johnny Carter, after suffering flashbacks to his traumatic war years.
Yet despite their early clashes with the Taylors, Ted formed a friendship with Karen Taylor's daughter Bernadette, as they bonded over a love of chess.
Joyce is the latest in a long line of characters reported to be leaving the soap over the past week, with the most recent being Richard Blackwood's Vincent Hubbard, along with Lee Ryan's Woody Woodward and Jenna Russell's Michelle Fowler.
United: Joyce's death will reportedly devastate Ted, as he had finally begun to realise how much he takes her for granted
Joyce's death won't be the only dark storyline to commence in the coming weeks, as it has also been confirmed that Shakil Kazemi and Keegan Taylor will be the victims of a shock stabbing.
Working with Brooke Kinsella - a former star of the soap whose brother was fatally stabbed in 2008 - the plot will show how Albert Square struggles to cope with such a brutal attack right on their doorstep.
Speaking about the story Brooke said: 'The pain of Ben's loss will never go away, there isn't a day that we don't miss him.
'I commend EastEnders for choosing this storyline to portray the realities of knife crime.'
