Olivia Wilde gets political with Jason Sudeikis as they take their kids to March For Our Lives rally

She's a mother of two young children.

And Olivia Wilde made her investment in the future of America's schoolchildren clear on Saturday when she took to the podium at the March For Our Lives rally in Downtown Los Angeles.

The 34-year-old actress spoke passionately about the need for gun reform in the light of several high profile school shootings across the country.

The Tron: Legacy starlet brought her family along for support on the day of activism.

Wilde was joined by her partner of the past seven years, Saturday Night Live alum Jason Sudeikis, 42, and their son Otis, three, and daughter Daisy, one.

The pair have never married, vowing to hold off their nuptials 'until weed is legal in every state'.

The statement, made by Jason on Watch What Happens Live, was perhaps more tongue in cheek than political, however.

After finishing her speech on Saturday, the Bojack Horseman voice actress was spotted carrying around her one-year-old daughter Daisy on her hip.

Some 800 other March For Our Lives events are being held around the world on Saturday, with the main Washington DC march as the one that students hope will finally force congress to change gun laws.

Over 500,000 people are expected at the main rally in the country's capital, which began at noon on Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd street and 12th street NW but large crowds had already formed by 8.30am.

The global event has been orchestrated by the survivors of the Parkland massacre in Florida on February 14.
