It comes after reports that the rock star, 55, who shares Brandon with his ex wife Pamela Anderson, was prepared to withdraw a police report filed over the assault as long as his son apologized to him.
An insider told the publication: 'You encourage what you tolerate, and he's not going to tolerate what Brandon did and that's why he wants the criminal case to keep moving along ... at least for now.'
The source added Tommy believes his son lashed out after the Mötley Crüe drummer called-out his ex-wife Pamela on Twitter, after she discussed domestic abuse during their relationship on Piers Morgan's Life Stories last week.

Brandon later acknowledged in a statement that the social media attack regarding his mother was the cause of their argument.
'I'm devastated at the events of the last several days that have been a result of my father's alcoholism,' Brandon said in a statement to People.
'I've worked tirelessly organizing an intervention and it's incredibly upsetting that it never came to fruition. I wanted my dad's hopeful sobriety and recovery to be a private family matter but, as a result of his accusations on social media, I feel forced to speak out,' continued the statement released by Brandon's representative Teal Cannaday.
