Emily MacDonagh has said she would never home-school her children - after TV presenter Stacey Solomon revealed she had removed her own sons from mainstream education.

Writing in her Ok! magazine column this week, the 28-year-old trainee doctor - who shares Amelia, 4, and Theo, 1, with husband Peter Andre, 45, said the social interaction found in the classroom was an essential part of a child's upbringing.

Stacey, who is mother to ten-year-old Zachary and Leighton, 5, previously said she had taken her sons out of school when she began noticing changes in their personalities - with Zachary in particular going from 'happy-go-lucky' to 'quiet and sad'.

But Emily said the school environment allowed children to learn from their peers and develop the ability to make friends.

'For me, the social interaction kids get at school is invaluable, so I wouldn't choose to home school my kids,' she wrote.

'I also think it's good for them to mix with all different backgrounds and ethnicities. And, there is a lot to be learned from other children. It's also how they make friends.'

Emily was at pains to avoid being seen to criticise Stacey's decision, adding that 'any parent has the right to choose how to educate their child'.

'Stacey is a good mum and only she knows what's best for her children,' she said.

Earlier this month Stacey told The Sun she had decided to home-school her children after watching her son Zachary go from 'happy go lucky child,' to 'quiet and sad'.

'We spoke about this a lot and he explained to me that his behaviour was deemed naughty and disruptive by teachers and not cool by his peers,' she said.

'Yes, it's controversial, and not everyone will agree with me but parents have to make their own decisions. No-one should judge them and you shouldn't feel judged.

'There are so many home-school communities all over the country, where you can socialise and even arrange group lessons at a much lower cost but still a very small ratio of students to teachers.'

Stacey, who is in a relationship with Joe Swash, shares her children with former partner Aaron Barnham, while Joe has nine-year-old son Harry with his ex-fiancee Emma Sophocleous.

The pair have been together since November 2015, but Stacey revealed on Loose Women last year that it is too early for the pair to contemplate marriage.

Meanwhile Emily's husband of three years Peter Andre also shares 12-year-old Junior and 10-year-old Princess with ex-wife Katie Price.
