Rosie Huntington-Whiteley admits she felt 'unprotected' as a rising model as she weighs in on #MeToo campaign and raising son Jack as a feminist
She is one of the world's most in demand models, having stormed the runways for countless high-profile fashion houses.
But while Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has firmly established herself as a supermodel, she admitted there were times she felt 'unprotected and uncomfortable' when rising up the ranks.
Speaking in light of the #MeToo movement to Harper's Bazaar Arabia, the 30-year-old star said that it's very easy to be silenced when you're young and starting out in the industry, for fear you'll lose jobs.

She explained: '[Women can feel pressure] that if you do speak out, if you do have an opinion, that you are going to lose the job, lose the client and upset people.'

Recalling her days starting out as a 16-year-old, she confessed: 'There’s definitely been instances where I’ve felt unprotected and moments where I found myself in situations that were uncomfortable.
'The fashion industry is so relaxed and casual, there’s this expectation on models that the more up for it you are, the better, the further you’ll go along in your career.'

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is Harper's Bazaar Arabia's latest cover girl and she graced the front page in a sequined Gucci dress.
During her accompanying photo shoot the British beauty wore looks from top designer brands including Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs and Ann Demeulemeester.

The mother-of-one also hit out at how easy it is for people to photograph models when they're stripping off backstage during shows.
She seethed: 'I’ve done countless fashion shows where you’re in a room, undressing, photographers flying around, people with iPhones, all the crowd and audience coming after the show and you’re still half dressed, people are taking photographs of you whilst you’re getting changed. It blows my mind that that’s acceptable.'
However, Rosie admitted she has already seen change sparked by the Time's Up movement, noting that the dressing quarters were made more discreet during some of her fashion week runs.

'For the first time some designers put private changing areas backstage at New York Fashion Week,' she enthused.
The fashion icon also opened up about how she balances her jet-setting modelling career with raising her son Jack, who she welcomed last June with long-time partner Jason Statham, 50.
'I took a bit of time off and had my baby; I tried to take the time at home to enjoy those first special months with my family,' she explained, before gushing: 'I have a wonderful personal life with lots of love and fun.'

But the star was quick to confess that returning to work when you're a mother is in an entirely different ball game, revealing that her entire outlook has changed.
She said: 'The first thing in your mind before accepting a job is, what’s right for my family? Whereas before, I’d get on a plane anywhere.
'The new thing is getting used to having a lot of responsibilities in my personal life and career. When you have a baby, your whole life changes.'

'Your priorities and what’s important is different to before. For every woman, it’s a juggle. You start a family and it’s like, "Wow!" Becoming a mother has been the most humbling experience of my life.'
Rosie also revealed that she is raising her son as a feminist, divulging: 'I think it’s so much about raising boys and girls the same. I love the book by Chimamanda Ngozi, We Should All Be Feminists.
'I saw her TED talk and it was very inspiring. It’s about raising girls and boys with the same values; communication and respect.'

She continued: 'That’s how I was brought up, it’s how the people I love were brought up, and they are the values I hope to instill in my loved ones.
'You can’t just wear one hat in life. Well, at least for me, anyway. I feel lucky to have gotten this far with my work and I’m still enjoying it.'
