Sir Rod Stewart's wife Penny Lancaster has enlisted their youngest son Aiden, 6, to rid the beach at their Florida home of plastic.

'I used to collect shells on the beach and now it's plastics,' lamented Penny on social media, alongside this image of Aiden with his haul of rubbish.

'Six months ago we had an incredible encounter with an endangered sea turtle emerging from the water to lay her eggs. It dawned on Rod and me that because we buy a coffee each day, we are adding to the plastic problem.'

The 6ft single mother was discovered at 15 and in 2015 she became the first black model to appear solo on the cover of British Vogue since Naomi Campbell, 12 years earlier.

But the 27-year-old Londoner recently told me she regrets not saving enough, as she is trying to buy a house. 'My mum kept saying to me, 'Invest, invest', but I never did,' she says. 'I spent all my money on clothes. Everyone kept telling me 'ask for clothes', but I always had the attitude that I can buy my own clothes, I'm an independent woman. But now I'm buying a house I'm like, 'Yeah, give me free clothes'.'

Oscar-winning actress Dame Helen Mirren already has a tattoo on her left hand, which she describes as the result of a drunken act of rebellion in her youth.

Now, 50 years on, the star of The Queen has returned to the inking parlour one more.

‘I’ll tell you what I had done recently, which I love — I got my eyebrows tattooed,’ says Dame Helen, 72. ‘I was fed up of my brows barely being there and when one of my girlfriends got it done, I thought that they looked great.

‘They’re very lightly and delicately done — but it means that when I get up in the morning and I have no make-up on, at least I have eyebrows. It’s made a huge difference.’
