Clare Crawley and Benoit Beauséjour-Savard after getting engaged on television in February have called off their wedding.

The 36-year-old hair stylist took to Instagram on Thursday to update her relationship status.

She posted a photo showing only bare feet with red nail polish and another pair of feet in sneakers standing on a garden path.

'We understand A lot of you have been asking about our relationship since the show, and we wanted to thank you all for the love and respect as we navigated it in real life off camera. We do understand however, having a public engagement on TV kind of changes that,' she wrote in the caption.

'It's with a heavy heart that we have mutually decided to end our relationship. We think the world of each other, and we were both hoping we could make this work. I'm sorry that this may not be what you want to hear, but it's our truth,' she added.

Clare also said there was no ill will between them.

'Just know there are no negative feelings here, we are simply two people who believed in love, and were open enough to give it a chance,' she wrote.

Clare also asked for respect for their privacy.

'Thank you for your understanding and love while we have shared our vulnerability with the world,' she concluded.

Clare competed on season 18 of The Bachelor in 2014 starring Juan Pablo Galavis.

She was the runner up to Nikki Ferrell and returned to the franchise for The Bachelor Winter Games in February.

Clare and Canadian restaurant manager Benoit, 31, split during the second episode of the season after she chose German contestant Christian Rauch over him.

They stayed in touch after filming ended and Clare accepted his proposal in February on The Bachelor Winter Games: World Tells All special.
