Quentin Tarantino takes ride on coin-operated kiddie Scooby-Doo van outside of LA market

He's a lover of all things retro, from Lee Marvin to the Super Sounds of the Seventies.

So it came as no surprise Quentin Tarantino enjoyed a coin-operated kid's ride designed like Scooby-Doo's Mystery Machine van on Friday outside of a Super A Foods market in Los Angeles.

The 55-year-old director smiled wide as he wore sunglasses with a stone blue T-shirt, dark blue jeans, surrounded by a group that appeared to be entertainment industry professionals scouting a location for an upcoming film, according to TMZ.

It was not immediately clear which upcoming motion picture Quentin was scouting for, as the A-list auteur is currently linked to three announced projects, according to iMDb.

They include Kill Bill: Vol. 3; a production linked with the Star Trek franchise; and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, a drama based on the Charles Manson murders that will pair perennial A-listers Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio.

More than 15 years ago, the filmmaker behind hits such as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill: Volumes 1 and 2 and Django Unchained gave an interview to the (now-defunct) website Yesterdayland - republished on the fan wiki, The Quentin Tarantino Archives - in which he opened up about Scooby Doo, and how it was his least-favorite cartoon when it aired in its original run from 1969 until 1970, when he was six-years-old.

'I remember my least favorite Saturday morning cartoon was definitely Scooby Doo. I hated Scooby Doo,' the double Oscar-winner said. 'I thought it was a stupid show, I mean, I actually remember watching the first episode ever shown of Scooby Doo, like the season it started. I go, "What the heck is this thing?" I never thought the mysteries were good.

'My dislike of Scooby Doo was a big thing,' said Tarantino, who cited H.R. Pufnstuf and the Pink Panther as his preferred viewing as a child.
