A frightening survey by finder.com.au has found more than 1,600 jetsetters died while visiting countries in one part of the world last year alone, while thousands more were seriously injured in other places around the globe. On average, one Australia dies every 17 hours in four countries that form some of our most sought-after tourist destinations with one nation easily racking up the highest number of fatalities. Algeria plane crash: Up to 250 people feared dead

More than 250 people were killed when a military plane crashed in a field outside Algeria’s capital on Wednesday, state media said, in the country's worst air disaster. Photographer John Thomson's photos give glimpse into life in Far East

These historic images of the Far East captured by Scottish photographer John Thomson will be exhibited in London for the first time this month. The incredible negatives were taken during 1862 and 1872 when Thomson set off to Asia for the first time. Throughout his 10-year expedition, he recorded daily lives of east Asian people, as well as the royals and became the first photographer who documented Angkor Wat, the world's largest religious monument found. The Scottish photographer and writer was able to capture the individuality and humanity of the diverse people of Asia, whether royalty or street vendor.

The 17-year-old boy from Afghanistan is one of five teens charged over the late night assault of Dr Edmund Pribitkin and his son Edik near Melbourne's Queen Victoria Gardens on January 17.

It saw off competition from other airports including Barra in Scotland, Nice, Queenstown in New Zealand and Saba in the Netherlands Antilles.

P&O cruise have a new show that could be the sexiest on water

When you think of cruise ship shows, chances are cabaret-style performances aren't the first thing that comes to mind. One operator, P&O; Australia has just unveiled its latest production (left and right) and it's one that's set to wow. Directed by one of the creative minds behind Madonna's latest tour, the show Love Riot is a visual feast - one that brings together elements of circus, comedy and stunning choreography.

National Geographic reveals stunning entries to its 2018 travel photographer of the year

The annual competition, which attracts thousand of entries, launched earlier this month and aims to honour photographers whose work shows the world through travel and exploration. Eligible contestants can submit their entries into three categories: nature, people and cities, and there is no limit on submissions. Some of the early entries include,a rhino in Kenya, top left, blossom in Japan, top right, shepherds in the Himalayas, bottom left, and a rainbow over the Grand Canyon, bottom right.
