Shayne Ward blames Coronation Street for his weight gain: Actor admits 'naughty' canteen food on set contributed to his 'dad bod'
His character Aidan Connor is set to depart the soap in typically dramatic style next month.
And while he admits it will be strange not working on Coronation Street any more, actor Shayne Ward has revealed he will not be missing the food on set.
Speaking to The Sun, the 33-year-old confessed the canteen on location has hugely contributed to his 'dad bod', thanks to its enticing selection of 'naughty' treats.
'It's not helped the dad bod': Shayne Ward has admitted he will not miss the food on set of Coronation Street as he feels it has contributed to his weight gain
The former X Factor winner said he was sad to be departing the Corrie family, but will happily leave the on-set kitchen behind, as he feels it was partly responsible for his three-stone weight gain.
Ready to embark on a healthier lifestyle away from the soap, he said: 'I will miss it when I leave, but it's not done favours for the dad bod.'
Before adding: 'The canteen has a really great menu but then it also has really naughty food.'

However, the Breathless hitmaker admitted he is no longer bothered about staying in shape, and simply wants to be fit and healthy for his daughter Willow.
He continued: 'As long as my cuddles are the cuddliest for my little girl then I don’t care about my shape, as long as my health is all right. I don’t want to be absolutely ripped to shreds any more.'
Shayne shot to fame after winning The X Factor in 2005, and became something of a heartthrob after releasing hits That's My Goal and No Promises.

However, the singer was cruelly trolled by fat-shamers last September, causing him to hit back by signing up for Loose Women's body confidence campaign.
Speaking on an episode of the ITV show at the time, the actor read out a number of comments he had received on his social media pages, stating: 'Here's one, 'Shayne has the xxl factor'
'And here's another one, 'Shayne is getting fat,'' before retorting: 'That’s called being content happy and in very much in love!'
Speaking candidly about the abuse, he said of his hunkier X Factor days: 'I was 21, my body’s changed, it’s gonna change.

'I’ve never been one for the six pack, I enjoy food, I’m now a dad, I have a cuddly figure for my little girl.'
'I’m not 100% happy with mine (body), but I’m comfortable and that’s what it’s all about.'
Shayne is currently preparing to leave the Cobbles after three years, in what has been claimed to be an 'explosive' storyline.
The star may leave alongside Catherine Tyldesley, who plays his on-screen ex-fiancée Eva Price, and revealed she was quitting back in December.
Shayne's character Aidan recently discovered Eva was pregnant with his child, after she ditched him at the altar following the emergence of his affair.
