Diante Yarber, 26, was waiting in the car after driving his cousin and friends to a local Walmart on April 5, when police reportedly acting on a 'call of a suspicious vehicle' attempted to stop him. San Bernardino county sheriff's department say Yarber had tried to avoid police and had 'accelerated' towards officers which is when they opened fire at the car full of passengers, killing Yarber, seriously injuring a female passenger, 23, and causing a minor injury to another passenger. Video, shot by a witness on their cellphone, captured the screams of shoppers as officers opened fire on the car. The footage appeared to show Yarber's black Mustang slowly reversing while gunfire rang out across the parking lot.

The Queen welcomed world leaders to Buckingham Palace for a state dinner on Thursday evening. Her Majesty hosted the dinner, which was attended by several members of the royal family and heads of government, including Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and his wife Lucy (left). The 911 call placed by Night Court star Harry Anderson's wife, pictured with him center, after she found him dead on Monday has been released. Elizabeth Morgan called authorities after her 65-year-old husband lying unresponsive with his eyes 'partially open' in their Asheville, North Carolina, home, bottom right, at 6.41am. She had woken up to find him unresponsive in their bed. In her first remark to the operator, she said: 'Yes, um, I am not sure who I need. Um, I woke up this morning and, um, my, uh, I think my husband has passed away in the night. 'I mean I - I’m in disbelief. I look at him and I feel like (should) I see him breathing. He’s cold. 'His hand - he’s cold. He’s not ice cold but he is definitely cold. His eyes are partially open, uh, but he’s not lookin’ at anything, he’s not responding.' Later, she said his fingers were 'purplish'. She also told the operator that he'd suffered strokes in January after a bout of the flu. Andrew Needum, 34, was on board Southwest Airlines flight 1380 with his two children, his wife and his parents. They were on their way home to Texas after a family vacation to New York City where they'd celebrated his parents 39th wedding anniversary. He was in row seven and Jennifer Riordan was in row 14 when she was sucked out of the window after it was smashed by shrapnel from an exploding engine. Needum, a trained firefighter, ran back to help her after hearing a 'commotion' and after being given an approving 'look' from his wife Stephanie, he said on Thursday. He and Tim McGinty, a farm hand, were able to bring the 43-year-old's body back into the aircraft. Needum and retired nurse Peggy Phillips then performed CPR until the plane made an emergency landing in Philadelphia.

New footage has emerged showing Southwest flight attendants scrambling to calm panicked passengers following the mid-air explosion that left a woman dead after she was half sucked out of a plane window. A passenger filmed herself breathing through her oxygen mask on Tuesday as several flight attendants screamed for people to remain calm as the hero pilot tried to make an emergency landing. One flight attendant standing behind the female passenger repeatedly said over the plane's loudspeaker: 'Everybody breathe, we are almost there.'

Gianna Baur who was on the Southwest Airlines flight that suffered engine failure Tuesday morning has been reunited with her husband, Chad Baur, after she sent him goodbye messages from the plane. Gianna thought she would never see her husband, Chad, again as the pilot of her flight announced they would be diverting the aircraft for an emergency landing. She immediately began texting him using in-flight texting and even took a photo of herself with an oxygen mask on. 'That's when I started to really panic,' Chad said. The next five minutes were some of the most terrifying for both Gianna and Chad. While pilot Tammie Jo Shults prepared the plan for the emergency landing in Philadelphia, Chad said he didn't receive any messages. Seventeen minutes later, Chad finally received a photo of the blown engine. Chad and his wife, who have been married for just three years, were finally reunited with one another following the horrific scare.

The bustling Lower East Side neighborhood in New York is known today as a hotspot for hipsters and for rocketing property prices, but 40 years ago it was quite the opposite and was a quiet tight-knit immigrant community. Renowned photographer Meryl Meisler took hundreds of captivating photos of the neighborhood during the 1970s and 1980s showcasing the vibrant characters in the area that included children to elderly people at assisted living facilities. A collection of her photographs during the time period are set to go on display next month in celebration of Lower East Side History Month. The exhibit opens on May 3 at The Storefront Project located at 70 Orchard Street and will run until June 3.

Video released by the Carver County Sheriff's Department shows Prince's Paisley Park estate in the moments after authorities responded to a report that the singer was unresponsive. The singer's body was laying outside an elevator on the ground floor of the compound, where he had lived for almost all of his adult life. Video was also released from inside a Walgreen's where Prince's assistant picked up prescriptions at 5:45pm and 7pm the night before Prince passed away. Prince waited outside on both occasions. The images and video of the 57-year-old's final days were released on the same day that officials announced no criminal charges would be pursued in the singer's death.

Lois Riess, 56, (left and right) has been on the run since she allegedly killed her husband David Riess (top) in Minnesota last month and then shot Pamela Hutchinson (bottom) in Florida days later. Authorities believe Riess, who allegedly used the same gun in both shootings, may have targeted Hutchinson to assume her identity because they look similar. Newly released surveillance videos show Riess walking away from the Marina Village in Fort Meyers Beach soon after she allegedly killed Hutchinson. Riess was also spotted on CCTV cameras driving up to a Hilton hotel in Ocala before calmly walking through the lobby wearing her victim's hat.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani is joining President Trump's legal team as he fights off Robert Mueller's Russia probe. Giuliani was a fierce defender of Trump and frequent companion on the campaign trail. The former New York mayor was also a prosecutor and in the Reagan Justice Department. Earlier opportunities to join the Trump administration fell through amid his list of clients and representation of foreign governments.

The judge deciding what happens to evidence seized by the FBI from Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen issued a rare public statement Thursday distancing herself from George Soros, the billionaire liberal mega-donor. Judge Kimba Wood was revealed to have conducted the 2012 marriage of Soros - the 87-year-old financier who has called Trump's administration 'a danger to the world' - and his third wife Tamiko Bolton, who is 41 years his junior. The 2012 ceremony took place in his Caramoor estate in Bedford, upstate New York, and other guests included Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic house minority leader and Gavin Newsom, then the Democratic lieutenant governor of California who is now running for governor.

McKayla Maroney is the latest Larry Nassar victim to reveal that the pedophile doctor used food as part of his grooming process. 'I think I would've starved at the Olympics if I didn't have him bring me food,' Maroney tells Savannah Guthrie in a preview for a special episode of Dateline airing on Sunday. 'Your coaches are just always watching you. And wanting to keep you skinny,' explained Maroney, before adding: 'And there's just other things about the culture that are also messed up that he used against us.' When asked by Guthrie what exactly Nassar did, Maroney gleefully replied: 'Buy me a loaf of bread.' This was similar to remarks shared back in January by Nassar victims Jamie Dantzscher, Jeanette Antolin and Mattie Larson on The Story With Martha MacCallum .

Stevante Clark, the brother of Stephon Clark (inset), an unarmed black man shot and killed last month by Sacramento police, was arrested Thursday morning for making criminal threats. Clark was taken into custody around 10:15am for making threats to commit a crime resulting in death or great bodily injury. The 25-year-old was also accused of calling 911 with the intent to annoy or harass. He was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for criminal threats to another person, felony assault, felony vandalism, and abusing the 911 emergency line.

American Sam El Hassani, also known as Samantha Sally, is currently in a Kurdish prison in Syria with her children after being taken into custody following ISIS's collapse in Raqqa. Her ISIS-fighting husband Moussa El Hassani was killed last year in a drone strike. While the family now waits for US authorities to decide their fate, El Hassani said she is desperate to get her children out and that they dream of eating McDonalds.

The attack took place on April 7 at WrestleCon when Smith confronted Roberts about comments he made about his late father. When Roberts refused to apologize and said 'F*** off' Smith threw hot coffee at his face. The penalty for battery in Louisiana can be up to six months of jail time or a fine of up to $1,000.

Herwig Czech, a historian of medicine at the Medical University of Vienna, made the discovery that Hans Asperger actively cooperated with the Nazi regime. Asperger is believed to have consigned dozens of children to their death at Am Spiegelgrund, a children's clinic in Vienna's notorious Steinhof hospital.

A television station tower in Fordland, Missouri suddenly collapsed Thursday morning as six maintenance workers were 105ft in the air replacing crossbeams on the structure. One maintenance worker died when he fell and became trapped in the metal and wires. The five other workers suffered non life-threatening injuries. The cause for the collapse of the 1,980ft tower is under investigation.

The actress said Botox froze her facial muscles, which wasn't ideal for an actress, and she is unlikely to do it again. 'I don’t want to spend forever obsessing over my look,' she said. As she lay in her ward, about to receive the last rites, she saw her mother, father, grandparents, uncle, and her cousin who committed suicide in the mid-1990s at 16.

William Hillman has been charged with murdering Denise McFadzen, 42, and Dalton McFadzen, 21, at their home in Perham, Minnesota on Tuesday. Both victims suffered blunt force trauma to their skulls and police recovered a bloodied pipe wrench nearby. Hillman, who has a history of mental illness and violence, allegedly told police he had done a 'bad thing' and needed to be arrested. When police asked Hillman if the McFadzens, who had taken him in, had ever threatened him, he said they hadn't but they were just 'weird'.

Mobile phone footage shows the husky standing in his hind legs and leaning towards his owners' arms as he whines loudly. A Michigan couple with 13 boys has welcomed a fourteenth son into their family. WOOD-TV reports Jay and Kateri Schwandt's latest addition was born on Wednesday evening - five days before the baby's expected due date. The healthy baby boy weighed in at a healthy 8 pounds, 4 ounces.

A tribe of 'superhuman' Indonesians have evolved larger spleens that allow them to dive more than 200ft. A genetic adaptation makes their spleens 50 per cent larger than normal. The evolutionary quirk, developed over hundreds or thousands of years, enables the Bajau tribe of 'fish people' in Indonesia to work eight-hour diving shifts to spear fish and octopus for their families. Members of the tribe can dive up to 230ft aided by nothing more than a set of weights and a pair of goggles.

Manu'iwa, a female monk seal pup born in February, is seen wielding an orange knife in her mouth in a video posted last Sunday from Hawaii, Hawaii. The seal pup was recently weaned off her mother and has been monitored by staff from the Ke Kai Ola: The Hawaiian Monk Seal Hospital.

As owner Colleen Murray sat at home in Cape Town, South Africa, she spotted her beloved Amber sat on her hind legs. While innocently wagging her tail, it slips between the eight-year-old's back paws and looks a little rude. Colleen said: ‘We all found it hilarious. I couldn't help but get it on film. We have had Amber since she was a puppy, and this is the first time I've ever noticed this.’

These pictures taken in Kenya's Nairobi National Park show a lion with a slick top knot and apparently unshaven beard, looking like he's had a little help securing his hipster look. Wildlife photographer Paras Chandaria, who snapped the unusual looking beast, said: ‘I thought his hair was awesome. I couldn’t help but take a picture.' Paras says he is a frequent visitor to the park and drives around it taking pictures of his favourite big cats.

This is the terrifying moment a bus almost runs over a 17-year-old girl in a prank gone horribly wrong. Footage, released by police, shows a girl pushed into the road as the big red bendy bus drives past. The back wheels of the bus were only inches from her head as she lands in the road in Czechowice-Dziedzice in Poland.
