But Sarah Jessica Parker, 52, was out to support her husband Matthew Broderick, 55, at the Crompton Ale House in New York on Wednesday night.

The duo have been married for more than 20 years and have three children together, son James, and twin girls, Tabitha and Marion Loretta.

The Seafarer is showing at the Irish Repertory theater and according to the website, tells the story of a character called Sharky.

'After losing another job, Sharky has returned home to Dublin to build a new sober existence with his cantankerous elder brother, Richard, recently blinded in a drunken accident.

'But it's Christmas Eve, and the drinks are flowing as old friends convene for an annual game of poker.

'This year, an immortal stranger from Sharky's past arrives, raising the stakes to eternal consequence.'

Matthew plays the devil, disguised as Mr Lockheart in the play, to announce he’s come to claim his soul for having killed a man years earlier.
