Roberta Flack hospital drama: Singer pictured being taken away in ambulance during charity concert at the famed Apollo Theater in New York

Singer Roberta Flack was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Friday night, according to TMZ.

The 81-year-old songstress fell ill during a charity concert for the Jazz Foundation of America at the Apollo Theater in New York.

Flack was 'able to leave the stage under her own power' before calling an ambulance to the venue in Harlem.

The New York City Fire Department responded to a call of a 'sick person' late Friday evening.

At around 8:50 p.m, an ambulance responded to the location where the Killing Me Softly singer was then transported to a local hospital. 

She arrived at the Foundation's red carpet event wearing a heavy blanket and thick scarf while in a wheelchair. 

Roberta was also being honored at the annual gala, called 'A Great Night in Harlem.'

Flack suffered a minor health setback in 2016 when she reportedly fell and needed the use of a wheelchair.

A Facebook post shared on Marcy 17, 2016 said that she was recovering nicely, with Roberta writing: 'I'm feeling strong and healing quickly. I can't wait to be out on the road again and perform for and sing with all of you soon. Thank you to everyone that has supported me during this time.' 

Legendary musicians Otis Rush and The Heath Brothers were also honored during the benefit concert.

She's known for breaking into the music scene in the '70s with an arsenal of hits including The First Time Ever I saw Your Face and Where Is the Love. 

'This benefit concert is always one of the best nights of the year in New York City,' the Jazz Foundation website said of the event. 'It brings together all-time legends and unknown gems from the worlds of jazz, blues, rock, and soul.' 

Performances and appearances at the star-studded event were set to include Brittany Howard of the Alabama Shakes, Danny Glover, Chevy Chase and Bruce Willis, to name a few
