Strictly Come Dancing: Craig Revel Horwood SLAMS 'ungrateful' Brendan Cole after shock axe
They were no stranger to an on-screen spat.
And Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel-Horwood has slammed axed professional dancer Brendan Cole, saying the show will be better without him, according to Mirror Online.
Craig revealed that Brendan should 'know better' then to publicly slam the show that made him a star, following his appearance on Lorraine in January where he announced bosses had given him the sack.
Brutal: Strictly Come Dancing star Craig Revel Horwood has slammed axed professional dancer Brendan Cole, branding him 'ungrateful' for lashing out after his sacking from the show
Craig, 53, told the publication that professional dancers should be thankful they had landed the opportunity of dancing on Strictly, adding he would never throw the BBC show under the bus.
He said: 'Strictly will be better without Brendan. More fool him.
'The show's done him wonders. It's done us all wonders. It's been fantastic. I would never complain about it. It's given us all platforms on which to stand.
'How many dancers in their life get a job that will last 15 years? Not many. Be grateful.'
'Ungrateful': Craig told the Mirror Online that Brendan (above) should 'know better', after he announced on Lorraine in January that bosses had decided not to renew his contract
MailOnline has contacted representatives for Craig and Brendan for further comment.
Craig and Brendan were no stranger to an on-screen spat or two throughout their time on the show, and the New Zealand-born star also came to blows with head judge Shirley during the most recent series.
Brendan broke the news that he had been axed from Strictly during an appearance on Lorraine Kelly in January.
The star - who joined Anton Du Beke as the only original pros who had been on the show since its beginning in 2004 - said: 'This is hard to talk about. The BBC haven't renewed my contract.
'They have made an editorial decision not to have me back on the show. I have had 15 incredible series on the show, they are a great team. I am very disappointed. It's an editorial decision. I will never know the ins and outs.'
At odds: Brendan's sacking came after an on-screen spat with head judge Shirley Ballas (second right), and the star was no stranger to a clash with 'Mr Nasty' judge Craig
A source also told MailOnline: 'Producers were said to be furious over his recent interview, in which he criticised his celebrity partners.
'They've always tolerated his rows with the judges as it creates drama and acceptable headlines but this was a step too far.'
Another source added: 'The producers believe no one is bigger than the show.
'They've been struggling to recruit celebs in recent years and the producers thought this interview was a step too far in terms of negative press for the show, made it more difficult to recruit celebrities and may have been a factor in the decision to not renew his contract.'
