Marcia admits she had been 'prepared' for the painful moment.

'It'd been coming on gradually, so there wasn't really a shock,' she confessed.

She assured her mother: '"It's okay if you don't remember me"... "I will always remember you."'

'Several months later [after the phone call], she said to me, "I know there is something important about you, but I can't remember what it is," and then later, "When you walked in the room, I felt something happy, like there was something about your face that was special to me."'

Beverly was diagnosed with the disease in her early 70's, and is now under full-time care in Texas.

Marcia and her siblings all pitch in to help out their mother.

Though the disease has deteriorated her mother's memory, Marcia writes the very 'core' of her has been untouched.
