She was a close confidante and supporter of his synomous fashion line.

And Naomi Campbell showed her support for late friend Azzedine Alaia as she attended the opening of Alaia's first flagship store in London on Thursday night.

The 47-year-old catwalk queen arrived to the star-studded soiree in her signature demure style and rubbed shoulders with British Vogue Editor Edward Enninful.

The British fashion star accentuated her statuesque frame in a sleeveless monochrome floor-length gown.

Naomi accessorised her striking garment with a thick black choker and gold infinity necklace while she stood tall in a pair of strappy black sandals.

Making an entrance, she worked her dark tresses into a sleek bob and sported a pair of Jackie O-style sunglasses while catching up with some of fashion's elite at the bash.

The glamorous evening took place to celebrate the opening of the first London flagship store from Tunisian couture designer Azzedine Alaïa, who passed away in November last year at the age of 82.

Azzedine became a pioneer in fashion for his focus on 'discreet luxury' in his designs, choosing to focus on designing clothes rather than delve into the work of 'it bags.'

After a break from designing in the 1990s following the death of his sister, Azzedine returned to his work following a partnership with Prada group in 2000.

Naomi Campbell and Lottie's model sister Kate Moss were among Azzedine's staunch supporters.

Among the guests was Christoph von Weyhe, who was the partner of the late Azzedine Alaïa.

Naomi has been a fixture in the fashion industry since she was 16 when she graced the cover of Elle magazine in 1986.

Over the decades, the supermodel has appeared on more than 500 covers of glossy magazines as well as working with fashion powerhouses from Chanel to Prada.

The striking stunner was the first black model to grace the cover of TIME magazine, British Vogue, French Vogue and Russia Vogue.

But, despite her reputation as one of the world's most beautiful women, Naomi recently admitted she has always been 'self-conscious' of her body.

The model - whose model looks are as prevalent as ever - revealed her figure insecurities when speaking to GMB hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid about celebrities stripping off and posting nude selfies on social media last month.

Asked for her standpoint on the craze, which is popular with stars including Kim Kardashian and Emily Ratajkowski, she confessed: 'That's them. That's what they want to do.

'I can't do it. I've always been self-conscious of my body. When I first got to New York, if I wore something tight, I would wrap a cardigan around me to hide my back.'

When a shocked Susanna told Naomi her revelation would come as a surprise to many of the women watching at home, the modelling icon added: 'That's how I've always felt. It took me years for me to feel comfortable doing lingerie.'
