The pub landlord - who is played by Danny Dyer - was seen discussing his vow renewal with wife Linda (Kellie Bright) before announcing that he had to leave.

Speaking to a flustered Linda, he reasoned: 'You can have a nice lesbian tea, sort your nut out, and when I get back, we’ll attack the rest of it.'

Meanwhile, fans have been speculating whether Mick and Linda Carter will be leaving the soap.

During a tense episode last week, the couple were seen discussing whether to purchase a pub in Stratford-Upon-Avon for a 'new start'  - leaving viewers panicking the pair were set for a shock exit.

The drama began when Linda inquired into a pub in Stratford, thinking the establishment to be in East London.

However the pair soon discovered the drinking house was actually in Stratford-Upon-Avon in the West Midlands, miles away from their beloved Walford.

Yet, instead of writing the idea off, Mick and Linda began to discuss what a new life in the country would be like - leading fans to speculate whether they are preparing to leave the soap for good.

Mick began by wondering aloud: 'Bit of countryside will be nice for Ollie [their son]. Bit of Shakespeare…'

While Linda slowly became more convinced, agreeing: 'And the flat sounds nice, two bedrooms,' before adding hesitantly: 'A new start?'

Growing more and more serious about the idea, the couple even told their families of the plan - who agreed it was the best thing to do.

Mick's mother Shirley said: 'We've had some times, some of them good ones. It's been good, it's been really good. But now it's time to move forward. Your wife and your little boy, that's your priority now.'

Mick needed to reply to the pub offer by 4pm - in undoubtedly tense scenes which are set to air during the next episode.

However, fans were left devastated by their discussions, and immediately took to Twitter to bemoan the pair's potential departure.

One wrote: 'Nooo Mick and Linda can't leave Albert Square!' while another added: 'Mick & linda are really leaving,' followed by a heartbroken emoji.

Further fans expressed their sadness, chiming in: 'Oi nah, don't say Mick & Linda are leaving' and 'Noooo you can't go Mick & Linda!!'

However one fan was simply confused by the story, writing: 'I don't get it. How are EastEnders gonna come back from this takeover storyline? What's really gonna happen to Mick and Linda?'

MailOnline has contacted a representative for the soap for comment.

Earlier this month, the Willmot-Brown family revealed they own the famous pub, and handed the Carter family an eviction notice for the Queen Vic.

Mick then risked everything to protect his precious establishment by teaming up with mystery newcomer Aidan Maguire.

The landlord risked being thrown in prison to save his pub with Aidan's help - however the solution is believed to come with dire consequences over the festive season.
