EXCLUSIVE: 'They're amazing with her': Father of toddler who was caught on camera escaping bed with the help of her two pet pups in viral video reveals how she's always had an incredible bond with them

  • Parents were scratching their heads at how 15-month-old Chloe escaped her cot
  • They were stunned to discover it was with the help of their two Golden Retrievers
  • Using in-room cameras, they recorded the cheeky pair of pups opening the door
  • The dogs, Colby and Bleu, ran over to wake Chloe up and let her out of her bed
  • After Chloe refused to dob in her accomplices, parents checked the baby cam

The father of 15-month-old Chloe, who escaped her cot with the help of the family's two Golden Retrievers, says she and the dogs have always been close.

Chris Cardinal told DailyMail.com his daughter and their dogs Colby and Bleu have always gotten along, and that the boisterous pair were 'incredible with her'.

'They're such sweet boys,' he said.

This might be the reason Chloe refused to dob them in when her mother Nina found her in the hallway at 6.05am last week.

'She didn't give them up,' he said, adding his daughter was too focused on her outrage at not being immediately picked up and fed breakfast.

In the clip, Colby is seen opening the door, which had not been properly shut earlier in the night, and he and Bleu bound over to Chloe.

One jumps on her bed and the other licks her face from his spot on the floor. Once Chloe is up and has acknowledged them, she quickly follows the pups out of the room.

Using her pillow toy as a crash-mat, she leaps down and trots off behind the dogs for a nighttime excursion.

While Chris says it's the first time he or Nina have found Chloe walking the halls on her own, it's certainly not the first time the trio have worked together to achieve a - usually food related - goal.

'She's learned she can get into their food bin and dump food overboard for them,' he said.

Chloe has taken her newfound fame in her stride, and her father says she's still more interested in the dogs.

When shown the video of her great escape, Chris says she just points to the screen and says 'puppy'.

For her doting parents, nurse Nina and Chris, who runs a software company, going viral is nothing new.

A heartwarming video of Colby and Bleu growing up together shared about two years ago has more than 13 million views.

While Chris says it's an 'interesting' feeling when his family videos go viral, he can see the appeal in them.

'I think cute baby and cute dogs are a really nice bit of news when so much not nice news is happening, so it doesn't surprise me when things spread like that,' he said.

Race you! Colby and Bleu were filmed running through the kitchen for mealtimes (left, at 13 weeks, right, 16 weeks) in another viral video
