'It wasn't Diana coming through': Psychic medium John Edward opens up about his controversial reading for Royal Butler Paul Burrell on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Australia and says he NEVER channelled the spirit of the late Princess

He caused controversy when he 'channelled the spirit of the late Princess Diana' on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Australia earlier this year.

But now psychic medium John Edward claims he never 'spoke' to Diana and the 'voice that came through' was from a man.

'If anybody goes back and watches that, I use the word 'he' for the person that was coming through,' he told news.com.au on Monday.

The psychic reading was with Diana's confidant and Royal Butler Paul Burrell, but John said it was a 'business partner' not Diana he was 'speaking' to.

'Energetically I felt that his friend (who came through) was like a business partner. If you had interviewed me after that and said who do you think this is, I would have said his business partner,' he told the publication.

John went on to say that there was no 'royal connection' and 'doesn't know what was aired' but feels 'editing' may have made it seem like it was Diana he channelled.

During a psychic reading in the South African jungle camp, John had shared supposed details about Diana's relationship with Paul that were never made public.

Those details included a 'secret' car crash that Diana was involved in before her fatal road accident in 1997.

He said: 'You had a friend who passed in a vehicle accident,' and Paul's interest was piqued when John asked him, 'Were there two car accidents?'

The American medium added: 'I'm feeling like there were two car accidents - almost like one was foreshadowing and one was tragic.'

After muttering a quick, 'No', Paul's head suddenly shot up in recognition and he replied emphatically: 'Yes! You couldn't possibly know that.'

Diana was killed in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris in 1997.

The accident also claimed the lives of Dodi Fayed and driver Henri Paul.
