All eyes are on Liverpool and Egypt star Mohamed Salah who is fit to start for his country in their make-or-break clash against hosts Russia in St Petersburg. The rapid forward is yet to play a game since he left the pitch in the Champions League final with a shoulder injury last month. Egypt will need their talisman fit and firing as they face the ignominious honour of potentially being the first team eliminated from the World Cup should they lose and Uruguay win on Wednesday. Follow all the action as it happens with DAN RIPLEY.
Controversial goal settles it for Senegal as Niang races through to score seconds after being sent back on from treatment for injury
POLAND 1-2 SENEGAL - IAN LADYMAN AT THE SPARTAK STADIUM: A wild pass back in to his own half by West Brom's Grzegorz Krychowiak was intercepted by Mbaye Niang as he was waved back on to the field after an injury. Poland defender Jan Bednarek clearly didn't see his opponent arriving on the blindside and for him we can feel a little sympathy. But what former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny was doing dashing thirty yards from goal to try and intercept was anybody's guess.

Japan profit from Colombia midfielder Sanchez becoming first player to be sent off at World Cup
CARL WORSWICK AT THE MORDOVIA ARENA: Japan blew Group H wide open after Yuya Osako's header broke down the resistance of a Colombia side forced to play with 10 men for 87 minutes. The South Americans, quarter-finalists at the World Cup in Brazil four years ago, were rocked after just four minutes when Carlos Sanchez was sent off for handling Shinji Kagawa's shot inside the box. Kagawa converted the penalty to hand Japan the lead but they were pegged back before half-time when Juan Quintero's clever low free-kick went under the wall and crept over the line. But Osako ensured Japan would capitalise on their numerical advantage with a second-half header from Keisuke Honda's corner.
No more Neymar? Brazil superstar sparks fresh injury fears as he is escorted from World Cup training camp wincing in pain
Neymar walked out of Brazil training on Tuesday in serious discomfort due to pain in his right ankle. The Brazil striker was seen wincing and covered his face with a hand in distress, sparking fresh fears about his fitness. He will spend the rest of the day undergoing physiotherapy, the Brazilian Football Confederation said. 'He was feeling pain thanks to the large number of fouls he suffered in the Switzerland game,' a spokesman told reporters. 'He complained of pain and so he went to physio and he will train normally on Wednesday.'
Murray narrowly loses to Kyrgios at Queen's but shows positive signs for Wimbledon on competitive return after 342 days out
MIKE DICKSON AT QUEEN'S CLUB: The body may be unco-operative but the fire still burns bright in Andy Murray as he ran himself to a standstill before being edged out by Nick Kyrgios in his comeback at the Fever-Tree Championships. In a contest as remarkable as any of the five finals he has won at Queen’s Club he went down 2-6, 7-6, 7-5 to the world No 21, but there was so much for him to be encouraged about. Fighting ferociously from start to finish, the double fault that Murray lost the match on was a desperately inappropriate way to end an extraordinary battle. But this was a priceless two hours and 39 minutes for the 31 year-old Scot, providing there is no serious reaction to it.

England make a splash after dramatic win over Tunisia: Stars lark about in the pool on inflatable unicorns in recovery session
England warmed down from their dramatic win over Tunisia in unconventional fashion as players pranced around the squad swimming pool on inflatable unicorns. Spirits were evidently high among the squad as they recuperated in the swimming pool following the Group G opener for a recovery session. And the likes of Jesse Lingard, Jordan Pickford, Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson showed off their playful side as they splashed around atop the pool floats.
Rashford and Loftus-Cheek launch push for England starting spots against Panama at training as Alli is sent for scan on thigh injury, with rest of stars given day off after arriving back at 6AM
Marcus Rashford and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were among the England stars to stake their claim for a start in Sunday's World Cup clash with Panama as Dele Alli headed for a scan to assess the thigh injury he picked in their 2-1 win over Tunisia. Alli is a doubt for the game in Nizhny Novgorod after sustaining the problem during the first half on Monday night.
From Croydon to Volgograd, England fans go wild as World Cup mission kicks off with Kane's late, late winner against Tunisia
Harry Kane's 91st minute winner against Tunisia ignited scenes of euphoria among England fans up and down the country and beyond on Monday night. With England seemingly destined to be held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by their African counterparts, Kane converted a flick on from Harry Maguire to seal all three points for Gareth Southgate's men. And as Kane's back post header hit the net, limbs and pints of beer went flying in the air all the way from Volgograd to Leeds.
How 3-5-2 gives England hope: Southgate's line-up has creativity and pace that could trouble top teams
Here's a sentence that might surprise you — Kieran Trippier has been the most creative player at the World Cup in Russia so far. Here's another surprising one — Harry Maguire is second in the England squad. In football's more traditional days, defenders defended, midfielders made chances and attackers attacked. The game has changed. More often than not, a playmaker can be found in the backline. That is particularly important against teams that defend deep, as Tunisia did on Monday evening. An inability to break down those sides has often been England's downfall at recent tournaments. Without creativity throughout the side, there is no one to force a packed defence to come out and create gaps for advanced players to exploit.

RonalDO vs RonalDON'T... star posts animation revealing what his mind says to the ball before taking free-kicks
Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed what he says to the ball before striking a free-kick in an animated video on his Instagram. The Portugal star wrapped up his hat-trick and netted a dramatic equaliser against Spain with a free-kick last Friday. And in this clip he reveals the battle between his subconscious, cleverly labelled RondalDo and RonalDON'T in the animation. Ronaldo begins the film by addressing the camera and explaining: 'My subconscious says talk to the ball, I always say "give it the right trajectory, go to the net".
Game for a laugh: Hotshot Ronaldo jokes with Portugal team-mates in training as they gear up for World Cup clash with Morocco
Portugal may be just a day away from a crucial World Cup clash against Morocco, but the pressure does not seem to have affected Cristiano Ronaldo. The Real Madrid superstar, who began his campaign in Russia with a hat-trick against Spain on Friday, was in playful mood as Fernando Santos' men trained on Tuesday. Ronaldo was pictured laughing and joking during Portugal's final session before the Group B clash, and was also seen giving team-mate Ricardo Quaresma a gentle slap on the back of neck.
Suarez prepares for 100th Uruguay cap against Saudi Arabia as he looks to bounce back from disappointing Egypt display
Luis Suarez no doubt looked to rediscover his usual attacking verve on Tuesday as he trained in advance of Uruguay's second World Cup Group A fixture against Saudi Arabia. The Barcelona striker endured an afternoon to forget in Ekaterinburg last week as Oscar Tabarez's much-fancied side laboured badly against a Mohamed Salah-less Egypt before Jose Gimenez's late winning header, squandering three great opportunities to make things entirely more comfortable. Suarez will hope to make amends for that thoroughly underwhelming display on Wednesday, when Uruguay's all-time leading scorer and sixth most-capped player will make his 100th senior international appearance in Rostov-on-Don against a lowly Saudi team that looked woeful as they were thrashed 5-0 by hosts Russia on the opening day of the tournament.
Neymar 'working hard' to get his foot back to full fitness as Brazil train in preparation for World Cup clash against Costa Rica
After failing to live up to pre-tournament hype with a disappointing 1-1 draw in their World Cup opener against Switzerland, Brazil need to quickly find a key to unlock opponents happy to sit back and defend for most of the game. The five-time winners showed encouraging signs in the first half of Sunday's game as they took the initiative, although their only way past Vladimir Petkovic's disciplined outfit was thanks to a stunning long-range strike from Philippe Coutinho. Brazil's frequent attempts to play into the penalty area were repeatedly thwarted by a resolute Swiss defence as a nervous-looking Neymar failed to shine, leaving man-of-the-match Coutinho to do all the work in engineering attacks.
Messi trains with Argentina at World Cup camp as Sampaoli hints at big changes after disappointing draw against Iceland
Argentina's head coach Jorge Sampaoli ran his team through a new set of tactical instructions on Monday as he prepares to make major changes to his starting XI for their next World Cup match. In the team's first session since a disappointing 1-1 draw against Iceland, Sampaoli tried a different tactical approach Monday, with an eye toward the clash against Croatia on Thursday. He tested a system with three central defenders: Gabriel Mercado, Nicolas Otamendi and Nicolas Tagliafico. Mercado was replacing Marcos Rojo, who put in a poor performance against Iceland in a line of four defenders.

Touchdown at Tottenham! NFL shield laid on to artificial pitch as work continues at new 62,000-seater stadium
Work continued on Tottenham's new 62,000-seater stadium on Tuesday, with the official NFL shield being laid on the artificial surface that will sit directly below a fully retractable grass pitch. Spurs released a sped up 25-second video across their social media channels that showed the official NFL logo being unveiled on one section of the synthetic turf by workmen. A deal was first struck between the Premier League club and American football league back in July 2015 to host a minimum of two NFL games per season at their new White Hart Lane home, though only one fixture is scheduled for 2018 with the Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders set to square off in north London on October 14 - week six of the 2018 season.

Eric Abidal has promised to bring his fighting spirit back to Barcelona after being unveiled as the club's new technical secretary. The 38-year-old former Barca defender, who successfully battled liver cancer during his five-year spell as a player at the Nou Camp, has been handed the role - the equivalent to a director of football in England - as the club attempts to deliver success both at home and in Europe. Speaking at a press conference, Abidal said: 'As well as my experience in the football world, I know this club and its players very well. It's a question of bringing the values I have always maintained.

The initial stages of pre-season are never a particularly enjoyable time for any footballer, but the likes of Alex Cairns, Paddy Madden and Markus Schwabl were all smiles as they got to work under the new regime.
