Lucy Hale says social media is like a DISEASE that 'affected my happiness'... as she reveals the real reason she went to a wellness center
Lucy Hale thinks social media takes over your mind like a 'disease.'
The 29-year-old actress - who checked into a wellness center after she struggled to rediscover herself once filming for Pretty Little Liars wrapped - has admitted she had no choice but delete her social networking sites because it was affecting her health.
Speaking to Haute Living Los Angeles magazine, she said: 'It's almost like a disease. We're all so addicted to it, and to what other people are saying.'

Show off your shoulders in a strapless gown like Lucy
Lucy Hale covers the latest issue of Haute Living magazine wearing a one-shoulder dress by John Galliano along with jewelry by Van Cleef & Arpels.
For her accompanying photo spread, the Pretty Little Liars star dons designer duds from the likes of Dior, Anthony Vaccarello and Monique Lhuillier.
Here the brunette beauty reclines on a leather sofa wearing the latest from Michael Kors. Her strapless gown hails from the brand's Pre-Fall 2018 collection and it features a belted waistline along with origami folds along the bodice.
It's not yet available online so in the meantime shop the current offerings from MK at Neiman Marcus. Then head to the edit below for lookalikes to make Lucy's glam style your own.

She added, 'Honestly, I know it sounds cheesy to say that social media was affecting my happiness, but it really was.
'It was important for me to disconnect from that, to put down my phone occasionally and live the life around me.'
The brunette beauty believes coming offline allowed her to stay grounded because social media is often a 'highlights reel of a person's life.'
She explained: 'It's everyone on their best days, posting a picture they've probably taken a hundred times and put a million filters on.
'I'm not saying that I'm not looking for validation, because I'm not, but it's nice to be at an age and time in my life where that's not the most important thing, because for a long time, it was. It's not anymore; I broke free.'

However, Lucy believes checking into the Canyon Ranch wellness and health spa earlier this year really helped her because she forced her to deal with things.
She said: 'I have a fear of being alone and sitting with my feelings; I just hate that. I overthink and over analyse.
'I was dealing with and thinking about things and emotionally bottling a bunch of stuff, and I finally dealt with some of those things there by hiking and meditating and sitting with myself.'
Sad news: This comes she penned a cryptic message to her fans on social media regarding a sexual assault incident i
In the same interview, Hale revealed she was taken advantage of by a man after having a few drinks.
'I think there are a lot of people who have been intoxicated and taken advantage of. It's happened to me and people I know. It's very common,' the brunette star told the lifestyle magazine. 'Luckily, I've been unscathed; nothing's hurt me too badly.'
The Tennessee native added, 'I've experienced stuff on the small side, but assault is assault.'
This comes after the Truth Or Dare actress penned a cryptic message to her fans on social media in January regarding a sexual assault incident.
'I never understood sexual assault until tonight. I always sympathized, but never felt the pain of it until right now,' said Hale.
But she IS back on social media: Here is a selfie the star posed just last week
Lucy continued her emotional message: 'My dignity and pride was broken. I am completely at a loss of words.'
The Life Sentence actress ended on a lighter note promising to help create change: 'I feel for anyone that has felt this pain that I feel right now. But I promise. I will not let a moment go by that I don't try to make a difference.'
The red carpet regular deleted her post moments after, but posted the same message on her Twitter account.
Lucy wrote: 'I deleted it from Instagram. But this needs to be heard.'
And then that same month she told People: 'I feel grateful to have people that I look up to that are speaking up about things. Not just women — I think men have sometimes suffered the same way that women have.
Looking her very best: The movie star also shared this image from her workout this month
'And as long as a conversation is going or a conversation has started, which it has, that's the best thing you could ever ask for because that makes people feel not alone.'
The star added: 'I think if powerful people can make a difference by speaking up, which they are, that will trickle down hopefully.
'My whole thing is I never want to be someone who makes it all shiny and rainbows all the time, because it's not. No one ever feels like that 24/7.'
The cover girl has been linked to actor Riley Smith since February. They worked together on her TV show Life Sentence.
The star also told Haute Living that she has not had it easy overall in LA. Earlier this year her home was burglarized.
But she said the city has 'her back.'
Lucy explained: 'I know it sounds weird, but I've always been at ease here. For me, this is it. I think I'll always live here. I feel like I can be myself here.'
Looking good! Hale sure knows how to look snazzy at an event; seen on June 12 at the Max Mara Celebration for Alexandra Shipp, 2018 Women In Film Max Mara Face Of The Future Award Recipient at Chateau Marmont in LA
