Ariel Winter and boyfriend Levi Meaden pulled a fast one as he knelt and mock proposed to her outside of the eatery Joan’s on Third in Studio City, California on Saturday.

The 20-year-old actress had her jet black hair pulled back in a bun, with a long-sleeved black sweatshirt and black leggings as she emerged from the establishment with Meaden, who she's been dating for more than a year.

Meaden, a 30-year-old actor, wore a baseball-style shirt with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles graphic, blue jeans and red Nike high tops with a black cap.

He knelt to one knee before the young actress, who plays Alex Dunphy on ABC's Modern Family.

The 5ft1in actress earlier this month took to social media to offer condolences after her acting peer Jackson Odell was found dead at 20, saying she was 'devastated' by the premature passing of the performer, who had past appeared on Modern Family as a character named Ted Durkas.

She said she had known Odell - best known for his role on The Goldbergs - since they were 12-years-old, though they didn't speak as frequently once as they 'entered into [their] high school years.'

'I'm glad I got to spend time with him before his end,' Winter wrote, noting that it was 'very hard for [her] to hear about anyone passing away, but someone so young really' saddened her. Winter said she was 'sending love to [Odell's] family and friends' amid the tragic time.

Meaden, who appeared alongside Gabrielle Union in the thriller Breaking In, told People he's 'trying to navigate' his newfound fame between the high-profile role and his presence at Winter's side.

'I try to keep relatively the same,' the Saskatoon, Canada native told the magazine. 'I’ve always kind of been a homebody so that’s still the same. I just go out and come back home with my girlfriend and three dogs and chill out. I try to make sure I don’t change too much because I like that.

'This is what I do for a job, but the home and family is where the actual life is, so I try to keep that in mind.'
