From setting up a home reversion plan to booking a lifetime mortgage: The key to unlocking cash from your home revealed
Dwindling pension pots mean the number of retirees tapping their properties for income is expected to rise by nearly 50 per cent over the next decade. Research compiled for The Mail on Sunday reveals that one fifth of over-50s - around 3.9 million people - are planning to solve a cash crisis in retirement by downsizing, making use of buy-to-let property or borrowing against the value of the family home. Borrowing, commonly known as 'equity release', is rising in popularity. Unlike a conventional home loan, equity release does not require a borrower to pay any monthly interest charges. Instead, the interest charges roll up into the loan with the final debt usually cleared when the homeowner dies or goes into long-term care.
'Isn't it sad that ambition and wealth are dirty words? It's an English disease': City boss Rupert Hambro talks about his 'third career' at Hambro Perks
Rupert Hambro, now halfway through his 70s, is the fifth generation of one of the most distinguished City dynasties. But far from fading into fusty retirement, he and his much younger business partner Dominic Perks, 40, are backing a wave of start-ups, including a dry cleaning app for busy people and a dating agency for Muslims. He sees it as fusing the traditional Square Mile with the brave new world of tech.
Elderly homeowners still face obstacles to downsizing - but affordable alternatives to pricey retirement homes are emerging
With just two per cent of UK housing designed specifically for older people - much of which is priced at the higher end of the market - the pressure is on to build more affordable retirement schemes. In March, the normally pricey retirement-housebuilder Audley secured planning permission to begin work on its first affordable scheme, Mayfield Villages. The site, in Watford, will offer 253 one-and-two-bedroom apartments priced from £262,500

A new app has been created to try and solve the travel crisis in the UK and it's designed to match up those wanting to travel, with empty coaches. Brexit fears for pension pots: UK workers plagued with anxiety over their retirement savings
Nearly 40 per cent of people across Britain are worried about their ability to retire comfortably, with many having no idea how much they are saving into their pension. Worse still, 13 per cent admit to having no pension savings, while more than a quarter of those who are saving for retirement have no idea exactly how much they are amassing.
Four in five holidaymakers in Sweden pay by card but nearly all in Cambodia use cash: Holiday spots where cards and cash are most popular revealed
If you're travelling to destinations such as Stockholm in Sweden (pictured), new research has shown you're more likely to rely on plastic as 81 per cent of holidaymakers chose a card over cash. For those going to Norway the number was similarly high, with 77 per cent choosing to use cash rather than a card while for Finland it was 71 per cent. Those travelling to Cambodia were most likely to pay for cash rather than a card, with 93 per cent opting for cash.
Tens of thousands of people are being paid WRONG state pension due to massive data bungle
A huge ongoing clean-up of old pension data has uncovered errors in work records stretching back decades. Those who have received too much state pension will not be forced to repay the money, but they will face reductions to future payments. Those underpaid will receive back payments and future increases, but not interest or compensation.
What is inheritance tax, how do people avoid paying it and when is it taken from an estate? Wealth Club's Alex Davies explains

SIMON LAMBERT: Own a Bentley 4x4 and it's free, drive a trusty old Ford Focus or classic car and you pay £12.50 - welcome to London's warped ultra-low emissions zone
Own a Bentley Bentayga or a brand new BMW company car and you'll be fine with London's new huge ULEZ - drive a five-year-old Ford Focus or a classic car and you'll get clobbered.
