Michael B. Jordan jokes he thought controversial actress Roseanne Barr would win Best Villain

Michael B. Jordan took on controversial actress Roseanne Barr as he accepted the award for Best Villain during the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Saturday, joking he thought she would win the honor.

'I'm shocked that I won this award for Best Villain, I thought for sure Roseanne had that in the bag,' Michael told the audience as he accepted the award for his role of Erik Killmonger in Black Panther.

'I want to thank all the fans that came out to support this movie. It took a lot to get into this character, so I'm glad that you guys enjoyed the role as much as I did playing Kilmonger.'

'One more thing,' he added. 'Chadwick Boseman, he personally asked me to ask y'all to stop asking him to say Wakanda Forever out in streets.

'Y'all taking the forever thing a little too seriously!'

In May, Roseanne was widely condemned after posting a series of racist and offensive tweets, including comparing former Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape.

She also accused 87-year-old Jewish billionaire George Soros, who survived the Nazi occupation of Hungary during World War II, of being a Nazi collaborator.

ABC swiftly canceled Barr's hit show 'Roseanne' and slammed the comedienne's comments as 'abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values'.

Following the fallout, Barr apologized for the tweet about Jarrett and to her own colleagues.

She also apologized to Soros, two weeks after making the accusation.
