The Distributed Management of Data Laboratory
The Distributed Data Management Laboratory (D.M.O.D.) performs research on various topics in distributed management, processing and visualization of data.
Research is divided in the following activities:
Recent accomplishments of the group include the best paper award of the 15th IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering (one of the leading database conferences) for the group's work on mobile computing and a Recognition of Service Award by ACM. Members of the group have co-authored a book on data management for Mobile Computing (Kluwer, 1998) and a tutorial on mobile and ubiquitous data access presented at the 16th IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering (May 2000).
The group has stable scientific co-operation with leading universities and research centers in Greece, Europe and abroad, such as the University of Pittsburgh, Purdue University, AT&T; labs, Amherst University, INRIA, Monash University, CTI, University of California, Riverside and AUEB. The group is currently coordinating an IST FET project of the Global Computing I initiative (DBGlobe), participates in an Integrated Project of the Global Computing II initiative (AEOLUS) and has obtained funding from the EC and national sources for research in Peer to Peer systems, Databases, Computer Aided Design and Reverse Engineering.
