She said her sister told her: 'Like, "You couldn’t admit this for years, and now you put it in a pop song?"'
Now 31, Welch says she's now 'further away' from struggles with food 'than I ever have been'.
The singer also said that after partying hard following finding success almost ten years ago - after singing to her now manager in a nightclub toilet - she now prefers to stay at home binge-watching Netflix than a night on the tiles.
The decision to leave her wilder days behind came, she told the newspaper, after she realised that she didn't need a drink to perform her music.
She says: 'When I realised I could perform without the booze it was a revelation. There’s discomfort and rage, and the moment when they meet is when you break open. You’re free.'
Welch's fourth album, High as Hope, is released on June 29th and features some of the singer's most honest lyrics to date
Much of the new album was inspired by heartache, Florence told the Telegraph earlier this year, following her split from James Nesbitt in 2014
The chart-topping singer's latest music is on the back of her third 2015 album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful.
The musician had previously divulged to the Daily Telegraph how she channeled her heartache into her fourth album.
Florence laid bare the intimate yet dark details of the 'black hole' she fell into with booze following her split from her ex James Nesbitt in 2014.
'I'm happier now, I'm content, but I'm never going to be fixed, ever,' she confessed to the publication. 'I don't think that's how it works.
'A lot of things almost worked for me: partying almost worked, being famous and successful almost worked, the relationship almost worked... but it won't sustain you.
'These are transient things. It's working out how to be OK regardless.'
In 2016, she was spotted soaking up the sunshine with rocker Felix White in Rio, in Brazil but the pair have not been seen together since.
