The actress hoisted a large tan bag on her shoulder as she nipped into a branch of CVS, while wearing a pair of white trainers.

Sarah completed her look with a pair of circular tinted shades and wore her brunette locks in loose curls.

The TV star took to Instagram on Thursday evening to show an excruciating side effect after being hospitalised due to the ongoing health condition.

Sarah's swollen face was front and centre in the image as she turned her tired gaze toward the camera.

'Sometimes a selfie is more than just a good angle or feelin' cute. This time for #NationalSelfieDay, I've decided to share my truth. As painful as it is,' she wrote.

'So here is my face that was torn from work against my will,' she added. 'But I'm very grateful it was. Health should always come first.'

In May, she revealed some of her health struggles, including how her weight has dropped to 87 pounds, with hopes to one day lift weights again.

One positive constant in her life is boyfriend of nearly one year, former Bachelorette contestant Wells Adams.

The reality star, 31, has been dating the Modern Family actress since October 2017, and says he loves how easy-going their relationship has been.

'It’s been really weirdly normal,' he told People TV. 'That question gets asked a lot because you expect the answer to be like it’s crazy because it’s in the spotlight.'

He added: 'But for whatever reason, it’s been really nice and normal and wonderful.'

Sarah and Wells met over social media, when Wells messaged her to tell her how 'funny' he thought she was.

She said: 'We had tweeted each other because I thought he was funny, and he was a fan of [my] show. I saw him as the bartender and I was like, "That’s really cute!"

'I was single, obviously, and was like, this is really awesome. You’re being very forward and it’s sexy and not aggressive, but very confident and sexy, and I liked that.'

Sarah previously revealed that her beau is the only person who finds her funny, as the happy couple have a similar sense of humor.

She said: 'I don't know. I'm just ... I think I'm hysterical when I'm really not. I'll be like, "This is an amazing bit that I have to put on my Instagram Story."'
