This is the terrifying moment a shotgun-wielding man concealing his face with a balaclava stormed into a news agency and demanded money from the till. 

The robbery took place at 2.20am on Thursday 17th May 2018 in Cessnock, with NSW Police today releasing the CCTV footage in an effort to apprehend the man.

CCTV footage shows the masked assailant enter the shop and direct the staff member to the register using his gun.

The staff member complies with the robber but appears to refuse to empty the register and hand over cash.

The footage shows the mugger present a bag and wave it at the staff member, before leaving a few seconds later.

Police are searching for a man who is depicted as 168cm tall, with a thin build and Australian accent.

He can be seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, brown pants and black Nike running shoes.

A police statement has been released, saying: 'CCTV from inside the store has now been released and officers are keen to speak with a man seen in the vision who they believed may be able to assist with their inquiries.'
