She's the Peruvian-born Australian actress currently starring in the reboot of iconic 1980s soap Dynasty.

And Nathalie Kelley, 33, has claimed that she found it difficult to find work in Australia due to the colour of her skin.

Speaking to Vogue magazine, The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift star said the 'climate' in the Australian entertainment industry wasn't one that was comfortable with minorities.

'To be honest, I moved because it wasn't a good climate for me as an ethnic woman,' she told the publication.

Nathalie continued saying that she felt the need to ply her trade further afield as the roles available did not speak to her ethnicity.

'I'm Latin, and the jobs [for me] were a half-Asian girl on a soap,' she said. 'As a brown girl in a country like this, I had to leave.'

Nathalie went further, claiming she had endured years of 'rejection and heartbreak' adding that, if she had her time again, she may've chosen a different career path.

'If you had told me there would be so many years of rejection and heartbreak, I may have thought twice about it,' she said.

Nathalie, who has landed roles in the likes of CSI and The Vampire Diaries since her move Statestide, recently revealed that she won't be appearing again on Dynasty, telling E! News succinctly: 'I won't be returning for season 2'.

But the brunette beauty had plenty of reasons to smile in May after she tied the knot with husband Jordy Burrows in a lavish Sydney wedding.

The pair walked down the aisle just six months after announcing their engagement.

Nathalie was born in Lima, Peru and moved to Sydney with her family when she was two.
