Love Island viewers have demanded Dr Alex George is sent home from the show following his shock rant at love interest Ellie Brown.

Twitter erupted with messages from disgruntled fans who claimed he should be sent home as he was not made for the show, as viewers' perception of Dr Alex changed on Monday night after he lost his cool and launched into a furious tirade with Ellie.

The A&E doctor, 27, hit out at the Geordie saleswoman, 20, accusing her of playing a game, while she told him he was 'too tense, formal and hadn't made her laugh once'.

It all kicked off between Dr. Alex and Ellie Brown last night. But in true Love Island style, at least Ellie looked super glamorous for their showdown!

Hitting back, the Geordie beauty said: 'I don't know why you're acting cocky because it doesn't suit you. Everything is very tense, you're very formal, you haven't made me laugh once.

'You made the decision to couple up and I'm very grateful for it I didn't try and come in and play a game and I could have very easily played a game.

'You're making it out as if we were perfect and then we've recoupled and I've just been like f**k off.'

Storming off Ellie vented to the girls: 'He's making it out as though I've played happy family's, got in a couple and then told him to f**k off'.

While Alex told the boys: 'So within three hours of recoupling, she got into bed with me and it was then she decided "I don't fancy you".

One wrote: 'Everyone suddenly backtracking on Alex... soz but I called it!! He's a very nice guy why don't you like him!! 'Nice guys' are all the same lol. They're entitled and act accordingly,' while another typed: 'He's basically got desperation written on his forehead. Don't think Love Island is his scene.'

Another wrote: 'Loads of people comparing Jack and Alex for being nice guys except there's a big difference. Jack is genuine and clearly just a great person whereas Alex is forced, needy and makes people feel uncomfortable. You can't fake a personality.'

Before the would-be couple's showdown, Ellie told the girls of the villa: 'So I came into this villa really wanting to get to know Alex, because I was like, "You know what, he will treat me so nice. He's such a sweetheart."

Baffled: Ellie said that before joining the show, she was baffled at why none of the other girls showed any interest in Alex, but then 'got it' once she spent time with him

Doubts: Despite getting to know each other over brunch and bonding together over challenges, Ellie expressed second thoughts about Alex

'And no offence, I was kinda looking at yous thinking, "Why does nobody like him?" Looking in, I couldn't get it. And then I've come into the villa and I was like, "I kinda get it."'

She added: 'Honestly, the thought of having sex with him is like having sex with a mate. You kinda just want to wrap him in bubble wrap and keep him sweet.'

Sensing that he was on the verge of experiencing yet more disappointment, Alex said of his relationship: 'I think it’s sort of slow progress at the moment. I think she’s been a bit awkward and stuff. I don’t really know what’s going on with her.

'I need to see what’s going on. She said how much she’s going to want to make effort. It’s just a bit weird that now we’ve recoupled the effort’s gone down, not up.

'Everything I do seems to do nothing. If I put too much effort it’s like putting pressure on. It’s difficult, I don’t really know what the answer is now. Have I offended her? Have I done something? For me it’s more the thing of why? Why did you recouple? It was literally recoupling done, effort zero. Bit suspicious.'
