As Port Authority police and firefighters surrounded flight 1623, dramatic video taken inside the plane by terrified passengers shows armed SWAT members storming on board and searching the aircraft as travelers were told to keep their hands in the air. The New York Post and several other media outlets reported that a JetBlue pilot accidentally signaled to air traffic control that his plane had been hijacked. The pilot had apparently told controllers that the aircraft was having radio issues, but mistakenly used the code for a hijacking.

Six 'Dominican gang members' in court over Bronx teen's slaying

Six suspected members of the Dominican Trintarios gang appeared in New Jersey court on Tuesday for an extradition hearing. The six men were arrested on Sunday at a home in Paterson, in connection to the June 20 murder of 15-year-old Lesandro Guzman-Felix. All six waived their right to a hearing, and the judge approved their extradition to New York State to face murder charges. The group are being held at the Passaic County Jail until New York authorities pick them up. All but one of the men spoke through a Spanish translator. A group of men were seen beating and stabbing Guzman-Felix to death outside a Bronx bodega last week. Cops say the teen's murder was a case of mistaken identity. The gang members allegedly believed Guzman-Felix to be the same man who had sex with one of the members' cousins in a sex tape. The six men who appeared in court on Tuesday are 21-year-old Jose Muniz of Paterson (bottom row, center); 21-year-old Jose Tavarez (top row, left), 18-year-old Manuel Rivera (top row, right), 21-year-old Danel Fernandez (bottom row, right) and 24-year-old Santiago Rodriguez of the Bronx (bottom row, left); and 24-year-old Joniki Martinez of Freeport, New York (top row, center).

The quick-thinking neighbour, who heard the commotion outside, immediately retrieved a pillow and propped it under the girl. He also held the girl tightly until firefighters arrived. A half-naked man caused a stir after he jumped on a plane that had just landed at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Tuesday afternoon. Passengers of a Delta Air Lines flight from Miami caught the moment the man walked near the plane with his hands in the air after he had stripped off his clothes. The man, who was later identified as Jhryin Jones, was down to his underwear when he sat down on the tarmac. Authorities said the 19-year-old had sprinted toward the jet and jumped on the wing. Jones was later arrested on the tarmac. He was charged with criminal trespassing, public indecency and obstruction of law enforcement officers.
