Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba's Bad Boys adaptation LA's Finest gets the green light for 13 episodes

LA's Finest, an adaptation of the series Bad Boys, starring Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union, is headed to the small screen.

On Tuesday, Charter Communications approved a 13-episode order for the drama, which is slated to be the showcase series for the company's Spectrum platform.

Pam Veasey will executive produce the program and share show-running duties with writers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier, according to Deadline.

NBC was initially slated to add the show - which sees Union, 45, reprise her role as DEA agent Syd Burnett from 2003's Bad Boys 2 - but passed on it, opening the door for Sony TV to snap it up.

The beautiful actress, who's married to NBA player Dwayne Wade, wrote in an Instagram post: 'The will they or wont they is over - it’s happening people!!!! LA’s Finest has been officially picked up by Charter Communications … marking their first major series order for Spectrum.

'Cannot wait for you to watch @jessicaalba and I kick ass and take names! 13 episodes coming at ya in 2019!'

Alba, 36, wrote on Instagram Tuesday, 'We are here to kick a** and take names!!! LA’s Finest has been officially picked up by Charter Communications - marking their first major series order for Spectrum. @gabunion and I are coming at you guys hot with 13 episodes in 2019. It's going down.'

Charter exec Katherine Pope said in a statement that the service was 'excited' about the forthcoming program and partnership, as it offers 'a great opportunity to provide Spectrum customers with the dynamic, authentic and unique programming that drives value for their Spectrum subscription.'

The budget for the program was estimated at $12 million, according to Deadline, with the storyline seeing Burnett relocating from Miami to Los Angeles, and partnering with Alba's character Nancy McKenna, an Army veteran-turned-investigator who's the mother of two stepchildren.

Rounding out the cast of the high-profile adaptation include Ernie Hudson, Zack Gilford and Duane Martin.

Alba is also listed as an executive producer on the show with Jerry Bruckheimer, who produced the original Bad Boys film with the late Don Simpson.

The Sin City beauty in March took to Instagram with a shot of herself, Union and Olivia Munn to confirm her involvement on the show.

She wrote, 'Can't wait to get back on set as an actor and exec producer. Here's a #fbf #vanityfairoscarparty @oliviamunn probably telling me and @gabunion we'd make really good cops. Detective McKenna and Agent Burnett reporting for duty.
