Nelly says he's done with his father Cornell Haynes Sr.

The 43-year-old rapper, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., tweeted that he'll be shunning his father on a personal and financial level, and that it was his mother Rhonda Mack who was primarily there for him growing up.

'The word father is strong word … something I never knew anything about as a child because mine never did what he had to do only what he wanted,' the St. Louis native wrote. 'HOPE IT WAS WORTH IT POPS IM DONE WITH YA NO MORE MONEY FROM ME' LET THEM PAY YA BILLS..!!'

The Hot In Heere artist also made clear that it was his mother who made sacrifices when he was a child, not his father.

The Ride wit Me artist then posted a screengrab of the above tweet tom Instagram, with words of encouragement for single mothers.

He wrote, shout out 'to all the mamas that had to be fathers for the kids...to my mama who taught me how to catch and play ball took me to my game borrowed money to buy me cleats and stood up and cheered when I walked the stage.

While it was not immediately clear what triggered the Air Force Ones rapper's diatribe against his father, the social media posts came just a day after his father was seen on the Snapchat account of his ex, singer Ashanti, posing with the Rock wit U (Awww Baby) singer while backstage at her concert in St. Louis this past Saturday.

Nelly and Ashanti, 37, had dated for ten years prior to their breakup in March of 2015.
