Zara and Mike Tindall have finally announced the name of their second child, nine days after she was born.

A spokesperson for the couple revealed today that the new arrival had been named Lena Elizabeth, believed to be a nod to Zara's grandmother the Queen.

Princess Anne's daughter and her rugby player husband, who already have four-year-old daughter Mia Grace, welcomed a little girl on June 18.

The new arrival was born at Stroud Maternity Unit in Gloucestershire weighing 9 lbs 3 oz, the Palace said.

The youngster is believed to be the heaviest royal baby in recent years; the record was previously held by Zara's niece Savannah Phillips, who weighed 8lb 8oz when she was born in 2010.

Take to teal like Zara wearing Claire Mischevani

Zara Tindall looked bloomin' beautiful at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding. She was close to her due date and still didn't hold back in the style stakes.

She chose a teal coat and matching dress beneath for the occasion by Claire Mischevani, a brand that she wore earlier this year at the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Princess Beatrice has been spotted in it too - a royally popular choice it seems!

The coat was custom made for Zara and it neatly hugged her baby bump and finished in a sophisticated below-knee length. We love the teal hue and the embroidered details, all finished off with a Peter Pan collar. Click (right) to see a similar coat by the brand.

Hoping to try on a teal coat like Zara? See below for options by Hobbs, La Redoute and more. Head for Seraphine though if you're expecting.

Mia weighed 7 lbs 12 oz when she was born in 2014, while all three of the Duchess of Cambridge's children have weighed less than 9 lbs.

Just minutes after the news was announced last week, a 'delighted' Princess Anne joined the Queen at Royal Ascot.

The Tindalls' happy news came just two months after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's third child was born.

The baby is the seventh great-grandchild for the Queen, after the Royal family welcomed Prince Louis of Cambridge in April.

What does the name Lena mean?

Zara and Mike Tindall announced this week that their nine-day-old daughter is called Lena Elizabeth.

But while the baby's second name is likely to be a touching tribute to her great-grandmother, what does her first moniker mean?

According to BabyCenter.com, Lena is a Greek word that means 'light'.

The new Tindall baby's name is pronounced lay-na, and not the other variation of lee-na

According to a spokesperson for the couple, the choice didn't have a special meaning. They said: 'The name is Lena Elizabeth. It was just a name they liked.'

Lena is a popular name in Wales and Sweden, where it is both a male and female name.

Baby names expert SJ ‎Ljungstrom, from ChannelMum.com, told MailOnline: 'Zara is a Royal with a modern twist and her choice for her new daughter perfectly reflects this.

'Just like for first daughter Mia Grace, Zara and husband mike Tindall have chosen an contemporary moniker for the baby's first name and a heritage counterweight for the second name.

'Lena is a pretty and contemporary name which is rocketing in popularity, up from 823rd to 138th in position in the last ONS figures.

'This is partly due to the popularity of millennial writer Lena Dunham and actress Lena Headey.

‎'Elizabeth is, of course, a homage to Zara's grandmother the Queen and a traditional Royal name favoured for generations. It adds weight and substance to the more contemporary choice of Lena.

'Elizabeth is always in the top 100 chart for girls names and although it has slipped from 26 to 38 in recent years, Zara's choice should spark a mini revival by reminding people how elegant and versatile it is.

'Zara has managed to please all camps at once - Royalists, modern mums and her own family, making this a perfect baby name choice.

'There's some debate around the name origin and meaning. Some people claim it is of Greek heritage and means 'light and shine' which is so appropriate for a summer baby.

'It's also seen in Swedish, Finnish and even Hindi where it means 'generous and kind'.

'It's very popular in Hawaii where is it also spelt Lina and it recently topped the list as the most popuar name for girls in Poland in 2013 which may explain it's rise in the UK too. '

The announcement of Zara's pregnancy came just over a year after the couple, who married in 2011, suffered the heartache of a miscarriage.

In November 2016 the couple revealed they were expecting a brother or sister for three-year-old Mia, but just a month later, on Christmas Eve, they announced Zara tragically had lost the baby.

Mike Tindall opens up about the miscarriage

The couple lost their unborn baby just weeks after revealing they were expecting their second child in 2016. A royal spokeswoman made the announcement on Christmas Eve.

Speaking about the tragedy last year, Mr Tindall described has described his daughter Mia as a 'saving grace' at the very difficult time.

He told The Sunday Times: 'One thing you do learn is how many other people have to go through the same thing. The saving grace for us has been Mia… however down we feel, she will come running up in our faces.'

It is believed she was around four months pregnant at the time. As a result, she missed the Royal Family's annual celebrations at Sandringham.

Princess Anne's daughter has not spoken publicly about the tragedy but former England rugby captain Mike later said: 'One thing you do learn is how many other people have to go through the same thing.

'The saving grace for us has been Mia. However down we feel, she will come running up in our faces.'

The new baby will not be given a title as both parents are keen for their children to have a 'normal' upbringing.

Zara and Mike live with her mother, Princess Anne, on her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.

For a number of years Zara – a former world eventing champion and Olympic silver medallist – has been involved with the event which features thoroughbred sales, racing and polo matches.

The Queen's granddaughter is patron of the event's Magic Millions Racing Women, an initiative promoting racehorse ownership among women.
