David Beckham dotes over baby niece Peggy as he joins newly single sister Joanne at mother Sandra's 69th birthday celebration

He cut a predictably dapper figure during a meeting with the newly appointed Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and her majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace on Thursday evening.

But David Beckham ensured he made time for two other very special ladies after racing across London following his appearance at the star-studded Young Leaders Awards ceremony.

The former footballer, 43, even had time to change his shirt before helping his mother Sandra celebrate her 69th birthday with a gathering of close friends and family members.

Beckham was joined by two of his four children – sons Brooklyn, 19, and 13-year-old Cruz – while his younger sister Joanne brought along her six-month old daughter Peggy.

Joanne was attending the event just two days after confirming her split with Peggy's father, former Big Brother contestant Kris Donnelly.

And evidently delighted to be spending time with his niece, the retired Manchester United and Real Madrid star shared a slew of Instagram Stories from his mother’s party, with many of them featuring Peggy.

In one, Beckham is seen holding the giggling baby aloft while pulling a comical expression that she clearly approves of, with the accompanying caption: ‘Apparently someone’s pretty funny.’

He later documented the moments waiters at their unspecified venue presented his mother with a birthday cake festooned with candles.

Beckham also shared a cheery group shot of the family, although fashion designer spouse Victoria appeared to be curiously absent despite both husband and wife being in London at the same time.

The former Spice Girl, 44, was also without David - who recently returned from a promotional trip to the Far East - as she attended an event at her Dover Street boutique the previous evening.

Instead Victoria was accompanied by her parents, Anthony and Jacqueline, as the Mayfair boutique prepared to temporarily house 16 Old Master portraits – works developed between the 13th and 19th centuries – before their auction on July 4.
