Britain has recorded its hottest day of the year for the third consecutive day as temperatures close in on 90F (32C), causing a bridge to swell and railway lines to buckle. Elsewhere roads have melted (bottom left) and temperatures continue to soar.

World's biggest private sailing yacht spotted in Corsica

The £360m Sailing Yacht A, is owned by billionaire oligarch Andrey Melnichenko who made his £11bn fortune trading in fertiliser and coal. It was today spotted off the Corsican coast, moored in the Bay of Calvi. The magnificent vessel has three masts taller than London's Elizabeth Tower, which houses Big Ben. It is powered by a 'hybrid diesel-electric package with controllable pitch propellers,' and is designed to accommodate 20 guests and a crew of 54. The staggering yacht is a 468ft-long vessel, which has three 300ft masts. The superyacht boasts eight floors - with a helicopter pad on one of the decks - and an underwater observation room.

Strawberry moon looms large as hot weather means it is clearly visible in UK night sky

The stargazing phenomenon is the name given to a full moon which turns pink during sunrise and occurs in June each year. According to experts, this year's Strawberry Moon will be visible during the early hours of Thursday morning. The name is thought to derive from Native American tribes as it falls in late June during the height of strawberry picking season.
